STELLA R. TAMBLIN
Stella R. Tamblin, 88, of Richville, died, April 28, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her daughters. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 10th , 1 – 3PM, at the United Church of Richville, a memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM, Pastor Karen Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Richville. Stella is survived by daughters, Rebecca A. and husband Jay Gibson, Harrisville, Deborah L. Ashley and companion David Cole, Gouverneur, a son, Robert H. and wife, Laurie Tamblin Jr., Kent, Washington, a brother, Nelson Macrie, Trenton, NJ. , a sister, Eileen Newell, Mosheim, TN, grandchildren, Angela Tamblin, Justin and his wife Sally Tamblin, Christina and husband Tim Smith, Matthew and his wife Lindsay Gibson, Dustin Gibson and fiancée Tama Moore, great grandchildren, Seth M. Gibson, Liam N. Gibson, Elsie R. Gibson, Ayva L. Gibson, Alyssa L. Smith, Andrew N. Smith, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Macrie, and sisters, Pauline Ketts, and Doris Lenord. She was born February 22, 1924 in Hammonton, New Jersey, the daughter of Dominick and Grace Parker Macrie. Stella married Robert H. Tamblin on November 11, 1949 in Great Bend, New York; he died on October 25, 2003. She was a cook for St. Lawrence University from January 1969 – August 1986 when she retired. Stella was a member of the Gouverneur, DeKalb Hermon, Edwards, and Canton Senior Citizens Clubs, the United Church of Richville; she was the historian and a past president of the Richville Historical Association, a 32 year member of the Richville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, and on the Richville Library Board. She loved to travel, play bingo, attend dinners, eat out, she was an avid reader, and was known for her apple cake and other desserts.
