Freda J. Spadaccini, 88, formerly of DeKalb Junction, died on January 21, 2021, at United Helpers Maplewood, Canton.  A graveside service will be on May 21, 2021, 10 am at St. Henry’s Cemetery, Father Bryon Stitt officiating.  Freda is survived by her sons, Michael and his wife Susan Spadaccini of Dexter, Allen and his wife Julie Spadaccini of DeKalb Junction, a daughter, Mary and her husband Douglas Dobson of Canton, grandchildren, Andrea and her husband Jon Roma of Vestal, Marina Spadaccini and her companion Shawn Thompson of Boiling Springs, NC, Angela and her husband Glenn Thomas of Canton, Caitlin Spadaccini of Burlington, VT, Jenevieve Spadaccini of Burlington, Vt, Jonathon Hermanson of South Dakota, Jamie and his wife Heather Peters of DeGrasse, 9 great grandchildren,  3 great great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her sister Marie Daniels.  She was born on February 20, 1932 in Pierrepont, to the late, Elmer and Jennie Shantal Enslow. Freda married Michael Spadaccini on May 3, 1952 at St. Henry’s Church, DeKalb Junction, he died on September 21, 1996. She was a devoted homemaker her whole life. She was dearly loved by her family and will be deeply missed.  She was a past parishioner of St. Henry’s Church, a member of the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizens Club, and TOPS of DeKalb. She loved to cook, sew, and flower gardening. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Society of United Helpers, 732 Ford Street, Ogdensburg, New York, 13669.

James C. Spadaccini

James C. Spadaccini, 86, of DeKalb Junction, died on January 7, 2021, at United Helpers Maplewood.  There will be a graveside service May 14 2021, 10 am,at the Union Cemetery, DeKalb Junction, Father Bryon Stitt officiating.  Jim is survived by his sons, Joseph and his wife Jodie Spadaccini of DeKalb Junction, Tomme and his wife Michelle Spadaccini of Vernon, CT, sister in laws, Frieda Spadaccini of Canton and Gloria Spadaccini of Russell, grandchildren, Anthony Spadaccini and companion Brie Gleason of South Glen Falls, Shawn Spadaccini and his companion Emily Pinckney of Canton, Jason Spadaccini and Matthew Spadaccini of Vernon, CT, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased his siblings, Phillip Spadaccini, Michael Spadaccini, Nicholas Spadaccini and Mary Dawson. He was born on February 19, 1934 in the Town of DeKalb, to the late, Antonio and Anna Autunna Spadaccini. Jim graduated from the DeKalb High School in 1952 and married Sylvia “Sue” Bush on May 14, 1960 at St. Henry’s Church, DeKalb Junction, she predeceased him on January 17, 2012.  He worked as a custodian at the Hermon School and then the Hermon Dekalb Central School until his retirement in 1999.  While he was working at the school he also worked as a cheesemaker at Kraft in Canton.  He made many friends while he worked at Hermon DeKalb Central School. He was a parishioner of St. Henry’s Church and St. Mary’s Church, a member of the DeKalb Hermon and Senior Citizen Club. He was a Yankee and University of Connecticut girls’ basketball fan. He enjoyed gardening and trains.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Society of the United Helpers, 732 Ford Street, Ogdensburg, NY, 13669.
