Viola J. Noble, 93 of DeKalb, died on November 27, 2019, at her home, Allen-Denesha Funeral Home, DeKalb Junction, has been entrusted with arrangements.  There will be no services as Viola requested. She is survived by, siblings, Weldon and his wife Roxanne Noble, DeKalb, Neil Noble, DeKalb, Merle and his wife Dancy Noble of DeKalb, Keith “Popeye” Noble, of Canton, Janice Sibbitts of Canton, several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by siblings, Morley, Harold and Glenn Noble, Lucy Murdie and Loreen Noble.  Viola was born on February 7, 1926 in the Town of Canton, New York, the daughter of the late, Loys and Jessie Colbertson Noble.  Viola cleaned homes for a living.  She loved taking care of her family and her home.  She enjoyed going for rides in the car. Jessie K. Wainwright, 102, Ellenton, Florida, formerly of Rensselaer Falls, died on November 27, 2019, at her daughter’s home.  In the spring there will be a graveside service in the Rensselaer Falls Cemetery. She is survived by, her daughter Linda Liscum and Antonio Tozzi of Ellenton, Florida, grandchildren, Brandi and her husband Robert Reichenbach of Hampton, Virginia, Evan and his wife Reanda Liscum of Tupper Lake, New York, great grandchildren, Jessie and Haley Reichenbach, Marah and Kelsey Liscum, and step great granddaughter Jenna Leonard.  Jessie was born on August 11, 1917 in Lisbon, New York, the daughter of the late, Howard and Julia McMartin Miller. She married Herbert Wainwright on November 12, 1943, he died on May 28, 2006. She graduated from Alexandria Bay High School, and graduated from Potsdam Normal in 1939, with a teaching degree.  Her career began by teaching in the country schools and ended with her teaching grades K, 1st and 2nd, at Canton Central School, until her retirement in 1972.  Jessie was a past member of the United Methodist Church in Rensselaer Falls, the New York State Retired Teachers, the Local Retired Teachers Association, the Rensselaer Falls Historical Association, and the Rensselaer Falls Library Association.  Jessie loved to spend time with her daughter and grandchildren.  She enjoyed reading, gardening, and being around animals. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Rensselaer Falls Cemetery Association or the Rensselaer Falls Volunteer Fire Department.

Janet J. Flight, 82, of DeKalb, died on November 22, 2019, at United Helpers Nursing Home, Canton.  Calling hours will be November 25, 12 – 2 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2 PM, at the funeral home, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery. She is survived by, her brothers, Lawrence and his wife Patricia Flight of DeKalb, David and his wife Wendy Corbine Flight, Ogdensburg, nieces and nephews, Diane and her husband Larry Hazelton of Heuvelton, Donna and her husband Frank Anson of DeKalb,  Carol and her husband Malcolm Hubbard of DeKalb, Cathy and her husband Robert Reed of Maryland, Mark Flight and his companion, Shannon Klementz of Wisconsin,  Steven and his wife Pam Fischer of Washington , 9 great nieces and nephews, 17 great nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Fischer. Janet was born on April 14, 1937 in Macombe, New York, the daughter of the late, Ray and Catherine Pray Flight.  She graduated in 1955 from the Hermon DeKalb Central School, in 1956 she graduated from the Watertown School of Commerce.  Her career at Saint Lawrence University began on June 14, 1957 and ended with her retirement on June 30, 1999.  She was the assistant registrar in 1973 till 1981 when she became the registrar.  Janet was a member of the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the DeKalb Hermon, Canton and Colton Senior Citizen’s Clubs, The Red Hat Society, and the DeKalb Historical Association.  She received the Laity of the Year Award in May 2004, and the Special Mission Recognition in March of 2019. Janet loved to travel, knit, exercise three days a week at St. Lawrence University, and read. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the SPCA, Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, or the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church.

Ruth Ann Copeland, 79, died Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Riverledge Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Ogdensburg, NY.  She was born on May 3, 1939 in Watertown, New York to the late Harley & Evelyn Lehr Watson. She graduated from Watertown High School.  She later attended Nursing School in the Watertown.
She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the United Helpers in Canton.  She is predeceased by her husband, Elgin Copland. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Sweet, Black River, NY and several nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
A private graveside service will be held in the South Edwards Cemetery on Saturday, November 23, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held on her Birthday in May.

Edward “Earl” Newcombe, 86, of Rensselaer Falls, died on October 31, 2019, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.  Calling hours will be November 4, 4 – 7 PM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be November 5th, 2019 at 1 PM at the Kendrew Methodist Church, Missionary Ron Stiles officiating. Newcombe, Jason Newcombe, Connor Mudge, Shane Mudge several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Floyd Newcombe, and a sister, Dorothy Newvine. Earl was born on March 24, 1933 in the Town of Lisbon, the son of the late, Lawrence and Marion Bush Newcombe.  He married Helen Anderson on October 7, 1962 at the Kendrew Methodist Church, Rev. Alan Bowering officiating.  He owned and operated Earl Newcombe and Sons Trucking.   Earl enjoyed cutting wood, trucking, working outside, and being a junk dealer. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Rensselaer Falls Volunteer Rescue Squad of Fire Dept., SPCA, Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, or the charity on one’s choice.

Lucy C. Gorr, 88, formerly of Cocoa, Florida and Bloomingdale, New York, died on October 26, 2019, at her daughter’s home. Funeral services are under the direction of Charlene Johnson-Allen, at French Family Funeral Home, Star Lake.  Calling hours will be October 30th, 11 am – 2 PM at the funeral home, a funeral mass will follow at St. Hubert’s Church, Star Lake, 2:30 PM , Father Shane Lynch officiating. She is survived by her daughters, Valerie L. and Lee Noel of Fulton, Donna L. and Francis (Frank) Whitelaw of Bloomingdale, a brother in law, Larry and Andrea Gore of Hamlin, a sister, Carmen Courtois, a sister in law, Bea Gore, grandchildren, Lee Anthony and Tara Noel of Cicero, Angie and Dylan Molchanoff of Cicero, great grandchildren Nathan, Sabrina and Vanessa Noel, Caiden Russell and Anabel Donovan, several nieces and nephews.  Lucy was born on February 6, 1931, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late, Francisco C. and Carmen L. Arzuaga Vigo.  She married John (Jack) Gorr on April 12, 1952 in Star Lake, he predeceased her on March 1, 2005.  She proudly worked at the Kennedy Space Center, in Florida for McDonnell Douglas. Prior to that she worked for many years in the office at Clifton Fine Hospital. Lucy was a past matron for the Order of Eastern Star in Oswegatchie, a Girl Scout Leader, and a past parishioner at St. Hubert’s.  She loved spending time with her family, creating porcelain dolls and making their clothing. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Cranberry Lake Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Barbara E. She is survived by her sons, William and wife Abby Alguire of Alaska, Brent and his wife Erin Alguire of Canton, a daughter, Sherry and her husband John Burke of Harrisville, a sister, Marjorie Rice of Arizona, grandchildren, Emily and her husband Derek LaPoint, Ryan and his wife Ellie Hamilton, Gianna Alguire, great grandchildren, Cooper and Carter Hamilton, Harper, Madison and Peyton LaPoint, several nieces and nephews.  Barbara was born on October 19, 1929, in the village of Gouverneur, NY, the daughter of the late George W. and Mary Anna Griffis Jennings. She graduated from DeKalb High School in 1947.  She married Donald Alguire on October 26, 1947 at her family’s farm, the Reverend E. J. W. Burston officiating, he died on May 5, 2012.  She worked on the Jennings Family Farm.  Barbara was a member of the United Church of Richville and the Order of the Eastern Star #291.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, making quilts, and baking. Nancy B. DiGiulio, 83, of Syracuse, died on October 1, 2019, at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center.  There will be a graveside service on October 19, 2019, 11 am, at the White Chapel Memory Garden (Sermon section), Reverend Candace Lawrence officiating. Nancy is survived by her husband, Michael P., sons, Timothy and his wife, Margaret DiGiulio of Syracuse, David DiGiulio of Castleton, Steven and his wife Christine DiGiulio of Troy, 9 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Doolittle, Frederick, Kenneth, Arthur, Howard Hicks, sisters, Margaret Watkins, Beverly and Betty Traverse. Nancy was born on March 23, 1936, in Fayetteville, NY, the daughter of the late Frederick and Wava Chapman Hicks.  She graduated from Fayetteville Manlius High School in 1954 and then attended CCBI.  She married Michael DiGiulio on January 21, 1961 at her parent’s home.  She was a secretary at Upstate Medical Center.  Nancy loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching television, doing aerobics, swimming, going to the casino and out to dinner. Lillian M. Erwin, 86, of Fayetteville, died on September 17, 2019, at Crouse Irving Hospital.  There are no services. Lillian is survived by her husband, Lyle L. Erwin, a son Lyle Erwin, North Carolina, a daughter Lisa Erwin, Fayetteville, her sisters, Marion Barr, Rochester, Virginia Tuttle, North Chili, NY, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brothers, Clifford Shatraw, Glenn Cooper, and Anda Cooper. Lillian was born on September 10, 1933, in Gouverneur, NY, the daughter of the late Anda and Geraldine Nellie Shatraw Cooper.  She married Lyle Erwin on March 8, 1952 at the United Methodist Church in Gouverneur.  She and Lyle owned and operated RCT Trucking in Syracuse.  Lillian was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, visiting, traveling, and spending time with her loved ones. Virginia C. Wells, 91, of DeKalb Junction, died on September 15, 2019, at Canton Potsdam Hospital.  Services are private.  Virginia is survived by sons, James and his wife Donna Wells of Gouverneur, Donald Wells of Tombstone, Arizona, daughters, Grace Wells of Ogdensburg, Virginia and her husband Gary Watson of Gouverneur, grandchildren, Daniel Rodriguez, Granger Watson, George Ramsey Jr., Jason Ramsey, Tina and her husband Scott Walrath, Tonya and her husband Robert Collins, great grandchildren, Jessica Moore, Robert Collins II, Chelsea Walrath, Joshua Walrath, Jacob Walrath, Nathan Watson, Emma Ramsey, Lizzy Ramsey, great great grandchildren, Michael Moore, Cayden Moore, Tristan Moore, and  one nephew.  She was predeceased by her grandchildren, Kimberly Virginia Rodriguez, Lisa Marie Ramsey, a sister, Dorothea Davies and a daughter in law, Amity Wells. Virginia was born on June 6, 1928, in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of the late R. Everett and Grace Eddy Piercy.  She married Donald L. Wells on June 8, 1946 in Rensselaer Falls, he died in 1989.  She worked on her family farm in Kendrew, her whole life.  Virginia was a member of the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club and the Gouverneur and Canton Senior Citizen Clubs.
