Danette A. Hance, 58, of Rensselaer Falls, died on February 21, 2017. There will be a celebration of Danette’s life will be Saturday, March 18th, 2017, 1 PM at the Pyrites Fire Station. She is survived by her husband, Neale D., her sons, Neale E. Hance of Morley, Robert Hance of Rensselaer Falls, her daughter, Randi Lynne Hance of Canton, her brother, Roger Delorme of Abilene, Texas, her sisters, Dorcas “Sam” and her husband Russell Lottie of DeKalb Junction, Michelle and her husband Wayne Cronk of Hermon, Marsha and her husband Richard Rogers of Texas, Pamela and her husband Charles Carrow of Texas, grandchildren, Logan Hance, Ethan Hance, Bryson Hance, Taylor Hance, Heaven Hance , Lathan Rider, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Silas Hance, brothers, Randy Delorme, Rodney Delorme and, Edward Delorme. Danette was born on February 10, 1959 in Canton, the daughter of the late Edward J. and Audrey M. Coffey Delorme, she graduated from Canton Central School. She married Neale Hance on February 2, 1980. Danette worked at the Best Western in Canton as a housekeeper. She loved being with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, reading and crocheting. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Gladys E. Thompson, 97, died February 4, 2017. A funeral service will be Wednesday, February 8, 2017, 2:30 PM at the funeral home, her son Terri Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, DeKalb on May 5th,2017, 2 PM. She was born in Ithaca on April 3, 1919, the daughter of Daniel and Bertha (Griggs) Selleck. During her teen years, she worked at a care facility for polio victims. After her graduation from high school, she trained as a nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital. During World War II, she became a U.S. Navy nurse and was stationed at Camp Sampson near Geneva, New York. Following the war, she married W. Maitland Thompson on July 5, 1945. She worked at Ella Gillette’s elderly home, E.J. Noble Hospital in Canton, and Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg. She is survived by her children: Roberta Bishop, Richard (Lucy), Daniel (Debra), and Terri (Lucille) Thompson, 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Doris Manoly. She was predeceased by her husband, a daughter Ruth Esther in infancy, two sister–Marion Drosendahl and Ruth Manoly. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Elaine M. Dusharm, 84, of DeKalb Junction, died on February 2nd, 2017, at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Calling hours will be, Monday, February 6th, 1- 3 PM, the funeral service will follow at 3 PM, Pastor John Frary officiating, at the funeral home, burial will be in the spring at the Hermon Cemetery. She is survived by her son, Duane and his wife Jo Dusharm of Philadelphia, daughters Donna Russell and Willis Shattuck of DeKalb Junction, Donita McIntosh and Bob Sweeney of Dannemora, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a nephew Elwood Fanning. She was predeceased by a son, Douglas Dusharm, a grandson, Joseph Russell, and a brother, Richard Fanning. Elaine was born on March 20, 1932 in Russell, the daughter of the late Wayne and Lois Wells Fanning, she graduated from the DeKalb High School in 1949. Also in 1949, she married Lester James Dusharm, he predeceased her on January 6, 1983. She was a retail clerk at ARC in Kingman, Arizona. She loved being with her family. She enjoyed playing cards, going out to eat, and being at “The River”. Robert E. Lottie Sr., 72, of DeKalb Junction, died on January 29, 2017, at his home. Calling hours will be, Thursday, February 2nd, 2 -4 and 7-9 PM, the funeral service will be, Friday February 3rd, 11 am, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating, at the funeral home, burial will be in the spring at the East DeKalb Cemetery. He is survived by his sons, Robert E. Lottie Jr. and Diane Monroe of Massena, Russell and his wife Dorcas “Sam” Lottie of DeKalb Junction, brothers, James Lottie and Melissa Sweet of DeKalb Junction, Jerry Lottie of Orleans, David Lottie of Canton, a sister, Shirley and her husband Kenneth Schwetje of Long Island, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, George Lottie, Lewis Lottie and Karen Bogardus. Bob was born on February 3, 1944 in Canton, the son of the late Lewis and Ruth Gleason Lottie. In April 1962, he married Norma J. Lucas at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, she predeceased him on December 15, 2015. He worked as a custodian for St. Lawrence County (building and grounds) for 25 years, retiring in 2009. He enjoyed being outdoors. Linda G. LaRock, 76, of Potsdam, died on January 26, 2017. There will be no services, Linda was a generous donation to science. She is survived by her sons, Richard and his wife Carie LaRock of Potsdam, Bruce LaRock of Potsdam, Robert and his wife Jennifer LaRock of Gouverneur, Allen LaRock of Gouverneur, daughters, Debbie LaRock of Gouverneur and Madonna Fadden of Gouverneur, sisters, Elsie Gibson of Pennsylvania and Karen and her husband Tom McGregor of Potsdam, 15 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Linda was born on January 14, 1941 in Bangor, the daughter of the late Roy and Mildred Willette Gibson. On May 12, 1959, she married Richard Abraham LaRock, he died on July 2, 1998. She worked at Canton Potsdam Hospital in housekeeping for 30 years, retiring in 2006. Linda loved traveling, reading, knitting and camping in Colton. Marian L. Kingrey, 84, formerly of Hermon, died on December 10, 2016, at Maplewood Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. There will be a graveside service, Tuesday, December 13th, 2:30 PM at the Hermon Cemetery, her son Jasper Kingrey will be the officiant. She is survived by her sons, Jasper Kingrey of Hermon, Glenn Kingrey of Hermon, John and his wife Lori Kingrey of Hermon, grandchildren, Crystal and her husband Sean Sterling, John Kingrey and his companion Vicky Brown, Thomas Kingrey, Jacob Kingrey and his companion Amber Weller, great grandchildren, Alex, Micah, Norah, Jace and Ezra, several nieces and nephews. Her siblings, Jake Gottschald, Harless Gottschald, Curtis Gottschald and Edna Rees predeceased her. Marian was born on August 2, 1932 in Louise, Texas, the daughter of the late Adolph and Laura Tolleson Gottschald. She was previously employed by ARC in Hermon. Thomas E. Baxter, 71, of DeKalb Junction died on October 11, 2016, at his home. He is survived by his son, Michael and his wife Elizabeth “Liz” Baxter of Pennellville, sisters, Inez Snow of Hermon, Kathryn Huvinen of Washington, Susan Allen of DeKalb, a grandson, Brett Tayler of Waddington, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Richard Baxter and Neadom Baxter. Tom was born on March 12, 1945 in Hermon, the son of the late William and Lucille Hickok Baxter. On May 15, 1965 he married Faye E. Perrin, she died on February 15, 1997. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Hermon. Tom enjoyed fairs. Tractor pull contests, making puzzles and always helped by giving people rides. A reception will follow the funeral service at the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Georgia, sons, Wade and his wife Christina Brothers of Seneca Falls, Dennis and his wife Nina Brothers of Kansas City, Kansas, a daughter, Amy and her husband Robert Smith of Hermon, brothers, Nelson and his wife Judy Brothers of Saint Petersburg, FL, Rodney and his wife Mary Brothers of Virginia, a sister, Kathy and her husband Wayne Becraft of Florida, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Richard Brothers, Ed Brothers, Dennis Brothers, George Brothers, Donald Brothers, Joan Kennedy, Nancy Kinney, and Judy Nolfi. Hubert was born on April 2, 1942 in Norfolk, the son of the late Nelson and Dorcas Warner Brothers. He graduated from Potsdam Central School in 1962, and TCI in Connecticut, On March 26, 1966 he married Georgia Moulton at the United Methodist Church in Madrid. He owned and operated a dairy farm in DeKalb, he was a truck driver for the Town of Madrid Highway Department, he was a diesel mechanic and did mechanic work for everyone. Hubert was a member of the Richville Home Fellowship Church, Kendrew Grange 891, National Grange and a board member for the Soil and Water District. He enjoyed tinkering, fixing things, being a mechanic and collecting John Deere memorabilia. She is survived by her sons, Edward and his wife Dawn Slayko of DeKalb, Paul and his wife Sandy Slayko of Hermon, Kevin and his wife Angelica Baker of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Eric and his wife Jessica Baker of Cisco, Texas, daughters, Karen Slayko of Syracuse, Carol and her husband Glenn Beck of Ranger, Texas, sisters, Rachel Miner and Esther Cleveland both of Hermon, 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons, Keith Baker, Douglas Slayko and a grandson, Ryan Slayko. Lila was born on May 13, 1937 in Pierrepont, the daughter of the late Edward and Mayfred Stone Fifield. She was a nurses’ aide at Western Manor in Ranger, Texas and an aide for many home health care agencies. She was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Russell. Lila enjoyed playing cards, baking and flower gardening. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Diabetes Foundation.

She is survived by her husband Curtis “Ralph”, sons, Steven and his wife Lisa Hammond of Rensselaer Falls, Scott Hammond of Rensselaer Falls, daughters, Stephanie Beebe of Potsdam, Shelly and her husband James Sanderson of Canton, sisters, Mary and her husband Tom DeRosia of Cicero, Nancy and her husband Hubert Schofell of Oriskany Falls, Phyllis Reed of Hermon, 9 grandchildren, Michael and his wife Kira Hammond, Kendra Hammond, Jennifer and her husband Greg Thompson, Mark Beebe, Sarah and her husband Matt Meagher, Audrey Hammond, Christian Hammond, Bridette Sanderson, Rachel Sandersons, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Carlton Allen, Debbie Downing, and Marion Perkins. Marjorie was born on April 3, 1941 in the Town of Antwerp, the daughter of the late Carlton and Phyllis Canfield Allen. She attended Hermon DeKalb Central School. On August 18, 1956 she married Curtis R. Hammond at the Russell United Methodist Church. Marjorie was a great homemaker and loved spending time with her family, knitting, sewing, quilt making, reading and traveling.
