Reginald Chilton, 76, of DeKalb Junction, died on April 26, 2015 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 30th, 6 – 9 PM, at the funeral home, the  DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire department will have a service at 7 PM. The funeral service will be Friday, May 1, 11:30 am at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, Bob LaClair and Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Sophie”, his sons, Bryan J. Chilton of Chicago, Eric D. and his wife Jennifer Chilton of DeKalb Junction, a daughter, Lori E. Chilton of DeKalb Junction, grandchildren, Richard Harrison Chilton, Hillary Grace Chilton and Henry John Chilton, a brother in law John Denn, Minot, North Dakota, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, James Robert Chilton and Frederick Russell Chilton, and a sister, Rebecca Ruth Denn. Reginald was born on January 20, 1939 in Hermon, the son James Virgil and Ruth Hill Chilton. He married Elizabeth Hamilton on June 24, 1961 at the Old DeKalb United Methodist Church. Reggie owned and operated Chilton’s Sunoco in Canton from 1963 – 1995 when he retired. He was a member of the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, he held the chief’s position and served on the Fire Commissioners Board and was a 40+ year member of the Rainbow Rod and Gun Club. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, watching sporting events on tv, especially the Yankees, Giants, and SU and being at camp on the Oswegatchie. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of one’s choice.

  8. Hello Sophie and family: We were so sorry to hear of Reggie’s passing. He was always available for oil changes, etc., especially in the wintertime. He always had a smile for us; even later in his retirement.

    Got to know Reggie from his garage days back in the 60’s and 70’s. Always considered him one of the nicest persons I have ever known. Sorry for your loss.

  10. So terribly sorry to hear. about Reg. he was such a truly good guy and the both of you made for a wonderful couple. When humans die and return to the heavens, they are no longer here,they are simply no longer visible. Yet they exist, fully conscious and fully self aware. They are simply less physical. And as everything ends for what you thought was your life, you will simply begin re-building a new life. You will take the things that you still have that are meaningful to you and add new things.
