HERMON – Funeral services for Merrill D. Finnie, 34, a resident of 104 Germain Street, Hermon, will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Allen-Denesha Funeral Home in DeKalb Junction.  Burial will be held in the Hermon Cemetery following the services.  Following the services, a luncheon will be held at the Hermon Fire Hall to celebrate Merrill’s life.  Family and friends may call at the Allen-Denesha Funeral Home on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 11-1 and again from 6-8 p.m.  Merrill passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at his home.

              Merrill is survived by his mother, Sonya Forbes, Hermon; his father, David Finnie and Pamela Hedrick, Gouverneur; his sisters, Christa Charland, Hermon; Clarisa Davis, Hermon and Courtney Finnie, Fishkill; his nieces and nephews, Bella Charland and Hayden and Caylin Cardinell; his paternal grandfather, William Finnie, Norwood; his paternal grandmother, Diana Putman, Hermon as well as several aunts and uncles.  Merrill was pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents Vernon and Deanna (Davis) Forbes.

              Born on February 24, 1989 to Sonya Forbes and David Finnie, Merrill graduated from Hermon-DeKalb Central School, Class of 2007.  He enjoyed working, especially at the United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton where he was in maintenance and when Merrill wasn’t working, he was helping his friends or enjoying the outdoors.  He loved to hunt, fish and go 4-wheeling in his spare time. Memorial donations in Merrill’s name can be made to the Hermon Rescue Squad.

Linda M. Bacon

Linda M. Bacon, 71, of Hermon, died on July 12, 2023, at Canton Potsdam Hospital.  There will be no services per Linda’s wishes. Linda is survived by her husband, Ward W. Bacon, her daughter Nicole S. Bacon-Ward and her husband Richie Ward, of Hermon, grandchildren, Marissa and her husband Michael Mason of Red Creek, Camryn Ward of Hermon, Makayla Bacon and her fiancé, Jason Burke of Canton, Dakotah and her husband Daniel Stroda of Clarksville, TN, one great grandchild, Wrenleigh Stroda, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Ward W. Bacon Jr., her brothers, Jerry Cameron, Richard Cameron, and Danny Cameron. Linda was born on April 12, 1952 the daughter of the late, Richard (Bud) and Blanche Johnson Cameron in Potsdam. In 1970 she graduated from Hermon DeKalb Central School. She married Ward Bacon on July 11, 1970 at St. Henry’s Church in DeKalb Junction. Linda was a direct support provider at Jefferson St Lawrence ARC, prior to that she was a cook at the Canton Day Care Center, everyone called her Linda Cooker.  She was a past member of the Hermon Rescue Squad.  She loved watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, she enjoyed fishing, and following local sports teams. Tennille E. Hayes

Tennille E. Hayes, 46, of Hermon, died on June 30, 2023, at Canton Potsdam Hospital.  There will be calling hours, Friday, July 7, 2023, 1-3 PM, a funeral service will follow at 3 PM at the funeral home, Reverend Robert Morehouse officiating. Tennille is survived by her husband Marc Hayes, sons, Isaiah Hayes and his fiancé Hannah Degraw, of Hermon, Grant Hayes of Hermon, a daughter, Gabrielle Barton of Brockport, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Grant and Cathy Hayes of Chittenango, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, McKenna Hayes. Born on July 29, 1976 in Canandaigua, she graduated from the Naples High School. She married Marc Hayes on November 8, 2003 in Naples.  Tennille was a certified nurse’s aide at Canton Potsdam Hospital for the last nine years.  She was held in high regard by her colleagues at the hospital.  She loved spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed reading.
