Dennis K. Harris, Jr., 58, formerly of Russell, died on April 18, 2024, at the Elderwood of Uihlein in Lake Placid. There will be a graveside service, Saturday, April 27, 2024, 2:00 PM at the Hermon Cemetery, Hermon, NY, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating.  Dennis is survived by his sons, James Harris, Trey Plummer, a daughter, Ashley Plummer, a sister, Melanie and her husband Jeremy Chaney, four grandchildren, a nephew, Raiden Chaney, nieces, Britney Putney and Patricia and her husband Gary Hall.  He was predeceased by his son Jeffrey Harris.  Dennis was born on April 18, 1966 in Sharon, Connecticut, to the late Dennis and Joan Conto Harris. He worked as a telemarketer. Dennis loved to listen to music, fishing, traveling and the outdoors. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Heart Association

Dr. David M. Speer

Dr. David M. Speer, 86 of Canton, NY passed away from this life on April 18, 2024 at the Plattsburg, NY Hospital.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

David is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Speer and three sons, and their wives and 6 grandchildren and his brother Jack Speer.

He was predeceased by parents; Hilda and Webster Speer DVM, his sister Virginia and brother William.

David Graduated from Canton Highschool in 1956 and then received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University in 1964.  He returned to Canton to open the Canton Animal Hospital and practiced until 2005 when he sold the practice then continued to work for the practice for 14 more years.

David was active in many Veterinary Societies and professional organizations over the years. He enjoyed fishing and always tried to incorporate a fishing trip into any vacation, which were few and far between.  David was a voracious reader with an extensive library.  He also enjoyed gardening and planted many trees throughout his life.  He enjoyed nature and the outdoors, had a pragmatic approach to conservation and didn’t waste time or resources with anything he did.  He always thought of his family before himself and was a great provider.  He was also very generous to his friends and extended family and donated to many causes.

In lieu of flowers any contribution may be made to the Canton Rescue Squad, 77 Riverside Drive, Canton, NY.

Lyndsay Erin Pryor-Shenkle

 

Lyndsay Erin Shenkle passed away at Canton Potsdam Hospital on Wednesday, April 17.   She was 43 years old.  Lyndsay was born in Albany, NY on December 12, 1980. Her family moved to Lowville, NY in 1988 and she graduated from Lowville Academy in 1998.  She then attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) in Boston where she received a Studio Art diploma.  Lyndsay was a kind and generous person who always placed the needs of others above herself.  She loved to read, especially murder mysteries, and to paint and draw. She also loved making people laugh and preferred the company of others to being alone.  Besides her mother and stepfather, James O’Neill, she is survived by two brothers, David Shenkle of Watertown and Erik Shenkle of Houston, Texas along with his wife, Jasmin and his son, Jacob.  She was predeceased by her father, Gary L. Shenkle, DDS.  In accordance with her wishes, there are no public services planned but her family will have a celebration of her life later. Lyndsay’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Canton Potsdam Hospital for their care and compassion during this difficult time. Patricia A. Flight, 80 of DeKalb, died on April 16, 2024 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. There will be a graveside service on April 22, 2024 at the Union Cemetery in DeKalb, 2:30 PM, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. Paricia is survived by her husband, Lawrence Flight, son, Marc and his wife Shannon Flight of Little Chute, Wisconsin, daughters, Diane and her husband Larry Hazelton of Heuvelton, Donna and her husband Francis Anson of DeKalb, Carol and her husband Malcolm Hubbard of Gaffney, South Carolina, Cathy and her husband Robert Reed of Baltimore, Maryland, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Ellis, and her brother Henry Ernestine.  She was born on January 26, 1944 to the late Floyd and Mae Boshane Benway.  Pat married Lawrence Flight on June 3, 1961 at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church. Pat worked at Saint Lawrence University and Hermon DeKalb Central School as a cook, prior to that she was a cashier at Ames. She was a former member of the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church.  She loved to do crossword puzzles, crochet, camp, cook and her indoor garden.   Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society

Lewis Fendrick Jr., 69 of DeKalb, died on March 30, 2024, at Canton Potsdam Hospital.  There are no services. Lewis is survived by his loving wife Joan, son, Lewis and his wife Jennifer Fendrick of Whitehall, PA, grandchildren Rachael Fendrick and Logan Fendrick, a sister, Dawn and her husband Kurt Walters, of Allentown, PA, a nephew, Nathan Walters and his beloved dog, Meina. He was born on September 30, 1954 in Allentown, PA, to the late Lewis and Grace Heller Fendrick Sr. He graduated from Dieruff High School in 1972. He married Joan Hobel on November 28, 2012. Lewis was a chemist at Air Products in Macungie, PA until his retirement in 2012. Prior to that he was a police officer in Coplay, PA and deputy sheriff in Leigh Valley, PA. He loved fishing, handy work, reading, hunting, spending time at his camp in Dexter and gardening. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the charity of choice.
