Joan E. Kampnich, 78, of Boonville, died on October 20, 2018, at the Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville. Burial will be Friday, November 2, 2018, 3 PM, at the Hermon Cemetery, a celebration of life will follow at the Lone Wolf Saloon in Hermon. Joan is survived by her son, Daniel and his wife Tracy Wadsworth of Holland Patent, grandchildren, Casey Tyndall of Holland Patent, Kayla Tersip Wadsworth of Remsen, step grandchildren, Chloe and Calli Becker of Holland Patent, special nieces, Yvonne Stewart of Pyrites, Cherie Frisco Williams of North Carolina, Cynthia Kampnich Buell of Lowville, a special friend, Nancy Kampnich, several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Lonnie Frisco, brothers, Gary Frisco, Ronald Frisco and Harold Frisco. Joan was born on November 27, 1939, in Ogdensburg, to the late William Ernest and Audrey Peters Frisco, she graduated from DeKalb High School in 1957. Marriages to Daniel Wadsworth Sr. and Bernard Kampnich ended in divorce. She was employed by the US Postal Service as a clerical worker in Syracuse, owned and operated Kam-Bern’s Diner in Remsen, then owned Joan’s Village Inn in Remsen. She moved to Croghan in 1985 and worked as a medical clerk at Fort Drum, until she retired in 2001. In 2001 she became the librarian of the Croghan Free Library. She was a parishioner at St. Stephens Church in Croghan. She loved Yankees baseball, traveling, country music, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Joan I. Burwell, 78, of DeKalb Junction, died on October 4, 2018, at her home. There will be calling hours on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, 10 am – 12 PM, the funeral service will follow. Joan is survived by her daughters, Marsha Burwell of Oregon, Virginia and her husband Kevin Murray, of Lisbon, Dawn and her husband Chris Meuten of Ogdensburg, Brenda and her husband Michael Hollars of North Carolina, Deborah Middlemiss of Maryland, Jessie Burwell and her companion Brent Brenno of Ogdensburg, a sister, Cheryl Longfellow of California, 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Rica Parras, Theresa Brown and a grandson James Burwell. Joan was born on June 11, 1940, in Potsdam, the daughter of Earl and Virginia Rheome Puirre. A marriage to James R. Burwell ended in divorce. She worked as a self-employed housekeeper. Joan was a member of the Hermon DeKalb Senior Citizen Club, a past member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Canton. She enjoyed, dancing, traveling, reading, and going to AM VETS Post 11. Jackson John David McLaughlin, became an angel on September 17, 2018. He is survived his parents Sherry (Newcombe) and John David McLaughlin of DeKalb, his brother Jacob Newcombe, maternal grandparents, Sheila and Scott Newcombe of DeKalb, paternal grandmother, Cindy Gordon Sr. and partner Richard Cherry of Edwards, great grandparents, Virginia Bullis of DeKalb, Howie and Marion Newcombe of DeKalb, uncles, Scott Newcombe Jr and fiancé Joshua Rose of Plattsburgh, Sean and Christy Newcombe of DeKalb, James Belonge of Hermon, Terry Gordon III and partner Kerry Ashley of Gouverneur, Jason and Katie Gordon of Edwards, Wallace and Daniel McLaughlin of Russell, aunts, Tina Wood of St. Regis Falls, Cindy Gordon Jr. and longtime partner Robert J. John E. Newvine, 60, of Gouverneur, died on September 7, 2018, at Strong Memorial Hospital. There will be calling hours on Saturday, September 15, 2018, 2 – 5 PM at the funeral home. John is survived by his wife, Vicki Newvine, his father, James Newvine of Plattsburgh, a son, Michael Newvine of Heuvelton, a daughter Rachel Newvine and Eric Payment of Tupper Lake, a brother, James Newvine Jr. of DeKalb Junction, a sister Jane Miller Newvine of Ovid, a granddaughter, Adelyn Mae Wayering of Tupper Lake, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Joann Newvine in 2010. John was born on November 5, 1957, in Gouverneur, New York, the son of James and Joann Horton Newvine. He graduated from Hermon DeKalb Central School, on May 25, 1991 he married Vicki Alguire at the Christ Church of Love in Old DeKalb. He worked for United Helpers in Evans Mills as a maintenance man, prior to that he worked for Witherbee and Whalen in Canton for many years. He loved playing golf, bowling, and playing horseshoes. He played horseshoes in the Green Belt League. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made his wife Vicki Newvine.

Jean M. Tyo, 88, of DeKalb Junction, died on January 20, 2018, at her home. Calling hours will be, Thursday, January 25, 2018, 2- 4 and 7-9 PM, at the funeral home, a funeral mass will be Friday, January 26th, 10 am at St. Mary’s Church, Canton, Father Bryan Stitt officiating, burial will be June 8, 2018 at 10 am at St. Henry’s Cemetery. She is survived by her sons, Robert and his wife Bonnie Tyo of LaPlata, Maryland, Michael and his wife, Kelly Tyo of DeKalb Junction, David and his wife, Ellen Tyo of Depeyster, daughters, Lynn and her husband Doug Shoulette of Redwood, Cynthia Sperl of Trenton, Tennessee, a sister, Alice Stafford of Lafargeville, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased, by siblings, Richard Wood, and Anne Smith. Jean was born on July 25, 1930, in Lorraine, New York, the daughter of the late James and Mildred Moore Wood. She was raised by her grandmother Maude Ann Moore. She attended elementary school in Lorraine, graduated from Adams High School, and received her registered nursing degree from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Watertown. She married Bernard Tyo on June 5, 1954 at the St. John’s Church in Plattsburgh, New York, Father Tobin officiating, he predeceased her on May 23, 2008. Her career started at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh as the night nursing supervisor, she then worked at United Helpers Moongate Nursing Home in Canton, as the night nursing supervisor from 1970 until she retired in 1992. She was a parishioner of St. Henry’s Church and prior to that she was a parishioner and member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Mary’s of Lake Church in Plattsburgh. Jean loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, she was the town Grandma and she enjoyed cooking. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to American Cancer Society.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Harris, a son, Dennis Harris, Jr. of Plattsburgh, a daughter, Melanie and her husband Jeremy Chaney of Van Alstyne, Texas, a daughter in law, Shirley Harris of Canton, two brothers, Charles and his wife Naomi Conto of Lucas, Iowa, John and his wife Janet Conto of Dover Plains, New York, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews She was predeceased by her son Richard Harris, her brothers, George Condon, Richard Condon, Patrick Condon, Herbert Conto, James Conto, sisters, Beverly Pelkey and Susan Wayne. Joan was born on May 29, 1944, in Malone, New York, the daughter of Charles and Hattie McFaul Conto. She married Dennis Harris in Dover Plains on November 16, 1965. She was a therapy aide for NYSARC, Canton, prior to that she was a maid and laundry attendant at Best Western, Canton and a therapy aide at the Wassaic Development Center, Wassaic. She loved to crochet, knit, play computer games and do crafts. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Jeffrey L. Villeneuve, 64, of DeKalb Junction, died on June 27, 2014, at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Jeff is survived by his wife Ann Jane, daughters Lynn Frances and husband Christopher Zaidan of Tupper Lake, Anya Louise Villeneuve and Nick Levesque, Tupper Lake, stepsons, Bryan Bush of Arlington, Virginia, Zachariah and wife Rebecca Bush of Norwood, stepdaughter, Sally Bush of Raymondville, a brother, Russell Villeneuve of Tupper Lake, a sister Cathy and her husband James McNamara of Stuart, Florida, 2 grandchildren, Sireea Zaidan and James Zaidan, 4 step grandchildren, 2 nephews and a niece. He was born on September 15, 1949 in Tupper Lake, the son of Raymond “Mammy” and Katherine Burch Villeneuve. He graduated from Tupper Lake High School, he received an AS degree from SUNY Canton, and a BS from SUNY Oswego. He was in the Army from 1970 -1972. Jeff married Ann Bush on April 14, 2004 in Stuart, Florida. He was a logger his entire life. Jeffrey was also a Lieutenant at the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility until his retirement. Jeff was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 11, and loved working in his shop, cooking, hunting, fishing, and being a mentor. Contributions can be made to Hermon Volunteer Rescue Squad.

James E. Brice Sr., 93, of Old DeKalb, died, Sunday, March 11, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family and his caregiver Martha Typhair. He will be buried in the Old DeKalb Cemetery. Jim is survived by his son, James E. Brice Jr. (Debra), DeKalb Junction, Marsha (Floyd) Koerner, of Barker, Carol (Michael) Fenlong, Helen Woods, and Cynthia Morrow, all of DeKalb Junction, Jane (Michael) Costello, Richmond, VA, Emily (Thomas) Grant, Lisbon, Jeanette (Thomas) Brock, Jordan, Marilyn (Michael) Peabody, Hermon, 24 grandchildren, several great and step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Eugene, and Andrew Brice, a sister Harriet Shimpeno . Jim was born November 12, 1918 in his family home on the Brice Road, until he moved to his current home in 1982, the son of William and Sarah Rowland Brice. He graduated from DeKalb Junction High School and the Hemphill Diesel Engineering School in NYC. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Rice on October 12, 1941, at the Norfolk Methodist Parsonage by Reverend Frank Brown, she died on August 10, 2004. He was a self employed dairy farmer until his retirement in 1982, he was also the Town of DeKalb Supervisor and Tax Assessor. He was a member of the Old DeKalb Methodist Church, Old DeKalb Grange, DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club, Richville Masonic Lodge for 70 years, NYS Farm Bureau, a former member of the Hermon DeKalb Central School Board of Education. Jean M. Evans, 91, of Gouverneur, died July 20, 2011, at Kinney Nursing Home, Allen-Denesha Funeral Home, DeKalb Junction, in care of arrangements.
Calling hours will be Saturday, July 23, 11:00 am – 1:30 PM, the funeral service will follow, at the funeral home, Reverend William Hart and Reverend James Warrington officiating, followed by the burial in Old DeKalb Cemetery, Old DeKalb.
Jean is survived by his son, Robert M. Evans, Gouverneur, daughters, Bonnie J. Knowlton, DeKalb Junction, Trudy M. (Peter) Meyn of Williamson, NY and Zephyr Hills, FL, Dixie ( Murray) Scott, Canton, Joadie (Jimmy) Goodison, Rochester, a sister, Susan Elizabeth Mashaw, Gouverneur, 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased a brother Robert Evans, and grandchildren, Karen and Kathy Meyn.
He was born in Sennett, New York, the son of Jean Paul and Susan Grant MacDougall Evans on April 5, 1920. He married Eva M. Mashaw, November 12, 1939 in Philadelphia, NY, she died on January 26, 2008. He was in the U. S. Army, there he earned the European – African – Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Jean was a maintenance supervisor at Kodak in Rochester for 12 years, he retired in 1982, previous to that he owned and operated a garbage pickup service, known as Mac Evans Trucking in Gouverneur from 1945- 1970.
Jean was a member of the Silas Wainwright American Legion Post in Gouverneur, the VFW in Gouverneur, and the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church. He loved gardening (flowers and vegetables), wood working, music, making puzzles, bowling, softball, sports, camping, and his bible study was extremely important to him.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, Macomb Community Wesleyan Church or Kinney Nursing Home.

June is survived by her brother Murray and Ethel Miller of DeKalb; sister, Mary Jane Miller of Potsdam; sister-in-law Betty Miller of Florida; nieces and nephews, Connie Green, Shirley Turbide, Kathy Wright, Vicky Vining, Robert Miller, Jeffrey Miller, John Miller, and Michael Miller; cousins, Christopher Sargent, Linda Davis, and Craig Sargent; and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Merrill Miller.

She was born June 26, 1923, in Rensselaer Falls, the child of Robert James and Pauline Edith Millar Miller.

June was an independent caregiver. She was a member of the Heuvelton Order of the Eastern Star, Ogdensburg Senior Citizen Club, and the First Baptist Church in Ogdensburg. She loved doing embroidery, making quilts, reading and especially babysitting her nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Rensselaer Falls Volunteer Fire Department.
