Mabel V. Pritchard, 93, of Canton, died on September 15, 2013, at Maplewood Nursing Home. Calling hours will be on, Wednesday, September 18, 2013, 12:00 – 2:00 PM; the funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM, at the funeral home with Reverend Michael Cantanzaro officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Canton. Mabel is survived by her sons, John P. “Reggie” and his wife Joyce Pritchard of Johnson City, NY, William R. “Russ” and his wife Lucille Pritchard of Wimauma, FL, Ronald K. “Ron” and his wife Jan Pritchard, Clearwater, FL, her daughter Bonnie and her husband Arthur Lohr of Hightstown, NJ, a sister, Flora Smith, Nebraska, grandchildren, Ted and his wife Tammy Romer, Bret and his wife Debbie Pritchard, Brian Pritchard, Terry Pritchard, Eric and his wife Yuliya Pritchard, Ronald Pritchard Jr., Shannon Pritchard, great grandchild, Leah Romer, Kyle Romer, Amber Pritchard, Ricky Pritchard, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Reginald Mace, Maurice Mace and Frank Mace. Mabel was born on November 27, 1919, the daughter of Harry G. and Violet O. Davies Mace. She graduated from Canton High School and then graduated from Utica State Hospital in 1946 as a registered nurse. Mabel was a registered nurse for Home Care for Cortland County Inc. and also had worked at various nursing homes and hospitals in New York and Florida. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, word games, cards, reading, sewing, and walking. She loved to learned, taking German and painting classes. Mabel was a member of the Women’s Republican Club in Binghamton, the First Presbyterian Church on the Park in Canton and the Post Script Club. She participated in the Senior Games in bicycling and bait casting. Mary Eleanor Rowell, 87, formally of Canton, died, November 25, 2012, at Hospice House of St. Mary’s, . Calling hours will be Friday, November 30, 2012, 4- 6 PM at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be Saturday, December 1, 2012, 11:00 am, at St. Mary’s Church, Canton, Father Doug Lucia officiating, burial will follow in St. Henry’s Cemetery, DeKalb Junction. Eleanor is survived by her sons, Anthony and wife Carla Rowell, Piney Point, Maryland, Thomas Rowell, Montrose, New York, daughters, Linda Reuss, Crewe, Virginia, Rachael Hadeler, Parkridge, New Jersey, a brother, Harold Lowery, DeKalb Junction, sisters, Ursula Coffey, Hermon, Eileen Derusha, Raymondville, Kathleen Goria, Nyack, New York, seven grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and her cat Maggie. She was predeceased by a son Michael Rowell, brothers, John, Patrick and Leo Hand. Eleanor was born on March 31, 1925 in Depeyster, New York, the daughter of John and Katherine McHugh Hand. She graduated from DeKalb School and married Mervin K. “Bud” Rowell. She worked as a clerk at Letchworth Village and was an operator for New York Telephone. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and St. Henry’s Church and was a Eucharistic Minister. Eleanor was passionate about politics, and enjoyed music, watching movies, and the news. Melissa A. Jandreau, “Missy”, 36, of Hermon, died, April 14, 2012, at her home, Allen-Denesha Funeral Home, DeKalb Junction entrusted with arrangements. Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 17th, 2 -4 PM. The funeral service will be private. Missy is survived by her, fiancé, Bradley Franklin, parents, Holland and Julie Rubado, Hermon, Gerald and Kathleen Jandreau, Potsdam, her son, Kzechariahs A. Fuller (Zech), Hermon, grandparents, Burton and Laura Bessette, Russell, brothers, Eric Lashua, Hermon, Jesse Jandreau, Norfolk, Bradley Jandreau, Potsdam, Anthony and Denise Stedman Rubado, Germany, a sister Katie and Andrew Dalton, Arizona. Missy was born March 8, 1976, in Potsdam, the daughter of Gerald Jandreau and Julie Bessette Rubado. She graduated from Hermon DeKalb Central School in 1994. She loved to do arts and crafts and sew. It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Hamilton announces her passing. Margaret Hamilton, 93, of DeKalb Junction, died May 14, 2011, at the Canton Potsdam Hospital. Allen-Denesha Funeral Home, DeKalb Junction, is in care of arrangements. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 17, 2011, 4 – 7 p.m., the funeral service will be Wednesday, May 18th, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, Reverend William Hart officiating. Burial will be in Old DeKalb Cemetery.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Victoria Hamilton of Old DeKalb, Marjorie Hamilton of Lynchburg VA, Susan Hamilton and fiancé, Peter Mezoian of South Portland, ME, Noyce “Allen” Pedroza of Gouverneur, Sophie and Reg Chilton of DeKalb Junction, Roger Hamilton and David Hamilton both of Gouverneur, Ben Peck, Heuvelton; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Pedroza.
She was born September 21, 1921 in Worcester, VT, the child of Noyce C. and Winifred Lucas Pedroza. Margaret graduated from the Ogdensburg School of Practical Nursing in 1964, as a licensed practical nurse. She married Robert Rickett Hamilton on February 5, 1946 in Bremerton, WA; he died on December 28, 1999. She was an LPN at EJ Noble Hospital, Canton, in 1977 she went to work at EJ Noble Hospital in Gouverneur, and she retired in 1988.
She was a member of the DeKalb Craft Club, as treasurer; Old DeKalb Methodist Church, as treasurer for 10 years and was on the finance committee; the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club; Town of DeKalb Historical Association. She was the deputy supervisor in the Town of DeKalb in 1988. She was on the Hermon DeKalb Central School board for 12 years, and she was a judge at the St. Lawrence County Fair for needlework.
She loved bowling, reading, quilting, knitting, doing needlework and crafts and playing cards.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Old DeKalb Methodist Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Mavis James, 78, formerly of Hermon, died March 28, 2011, at the home of her son. The Allen-Denesha Funeral Home, DeKalb Junction, is in care of arrangements. Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 30, 2011, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, March 31, 2011, 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Justin James Prayer Worship Leader officiating. Burial will follow in Hermon Cemetery.
Mavis is survived by sons, Donald (Marianne) James, Hamilton, OH, Douglas (Amy) Johnson, Alexandria, KY, and Thomas (Tracey) James, Pyrites; a daughter, Valerie (Charles) Rink, Cincinnati, OH; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mavis was one of twelve Johnson children.
She was born March 3, 1933 in Colton, the child of John and Arvilla McDonald Johnson. She married Boyden James, April 19, 1958 at the Zion Episcopal Church in Colton, Reverend George Kaufus officiating; he predeceased her on February, 19, 1984. She was a dietician at Drake Hospital in Cincinnati, OH, until her retirement.
She loved fishing, playing cards, visiting around the kitchen table. She always said “If you have a lending hand, lend it.”
