Randy A. St. Denny, 50, of Rensselaer Falls, died on September 14, 2021. There will be calling hours on Sunday, September 26, 2021 from 2-4 PM, at the funeral home. Due to COVID masks and social distancing are required.  Randy is survived by his parents, Carl and Bonnie (Storie) St.  Denny, brothers, Michael and his wife Barbara St. Denny of Waddington, Scott St. Denny and his partner Jesse Purtz of Rochester, his sister, Sally and her husband Darron Markel of Crary Mills, several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.  Randy was born on December 30, 1970 in Potsdam.   He graduated Canton Central School in 1989. After high school he worked for Minerich of Lexington, KY as a foreman erecting cell towers. He loved the traveling and the places his job took him.  As of late he was a corrections officer for the Gouverneur Correctional Facility. Randy loved woodworking, hunting, fishing, canoeing and being outdoors. His passion was his family and farming In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the food bank of one’s choice.

Roy W. Brothers Sr., 75, of Hermon, died on March 2, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  There will be calling hours on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 1 – 3 PM, funeral service to follow at 3 PM, Pastor William Scott officiating, there will be a get together at the Hermon Fire Dept. after the services.  Burial will be at a later date in the Union Cemetery, DeKalb Junction. He is survived by his wife, Colleen, son, Roy W. Brothers Jr. of Hermon, daughters, Joyce Ashley and her companion Jim Ashley of Richville, Teresa Brothers and her companion David Smith of Hermon, Susan Thomson of Hermon, Lisa and her husband Jeff Bailey of Martville, a brother, James and his wife Mary Brothers of Madrid, a sister Diane and her husband John Lamay of Ogdensburg, sister in laws, Lodine Brothers of Lisbon, Lisa Brothers of Canton, 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Neal, Rudloph, William and Ernest Brothers Jr., and a sister Shirley Brothers.  Roy was born on July 8, 1944, in Massena, to the late, Ernest and Ethel Brown Brothers. He married Colleen Mouthrop on April 6, 1963 at the United Methodist Church in Canton. He was a self employed electrician and meat cutter. Previous jobs included, a laborer at Fort Drum and a miner at St Joe’s Mine.  Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and tinkering with small engines.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Robert D. Yates, 94, of Potsdam, died on February 28, 2020, at Canton Potsdam Hospital.  There will be no services at this time as Robert is a generous donation to science.  He is survived by his son, David and his wife Cathy Yates of Schuylerville, a daughter, Lyda Yates of Missouri, step children, Gary and his wife Carol Palmer of Parishville, Sherry Palmer and her husband Rick Gary of Parishville, Lana and her husband Vernon Hobbs of Mercedes, Texas, Laurie and her husband Marcel Poirier of Cortland, 8 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, several great grandchildren, his extended family, Tammy, Keala and Ethan.  He was predeceased by his daughters, Linda Yates and Rita Lavaway, a brother, Eugene Yates and a sister Deldee Yates.  Robert was born on August 17, 1925, in Hallsville, MO, to the late, James and Lillian Fuhr Yates, he was in the Army from 1945 till 1948 earning the World War II Victory Medal. He married Ruth Wilson on September 29, 1985 at St. Michael’s Church Parsonage, she died on January 16, 2015, a previous marriage ended in divorce. Robert worked as a produce manager at A & P in Watertown. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Potsdam.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Potsdam Humane Society.

Robert L. Kio, 66, of Hermon, died on February 2, 2020, at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse.  There will be calling hours February 8, 2020, 11 am – 1 PM, a funeral service will follow at 1 P.M., Reverend Thomas Nichols officiating.  Burial will be in the Hermon Cemetery.  He is survived by his partner of 20 years, Cheryl (Locy) Walrath, his parents, Levi C. and Ella M. (Carr) Kio of Morristown, Michael J. and Sabrina Kio of Fort Ann, stepson, William Walrath of Hermon, stepdaughter, Krysta and Keith Davis of Lisbon, his brother, Alan and Mary Kio of Baldwinsville, grandchildren, Alyson Kio, Brianna Haven, Edwin J. Ramos “E.J.”, Angelina Kio, Michael Levi Kio, step grandchildren, Carlie and Ryanna Davis, great granddaughter, Braylynn Hill, a nephew Alan James Kio.  Robert was born on December 8, 1953 in Gouverneur. He graduated from Hermon DeKalb  Central School in 1970 and Canton ATC in 1998 with an A.S. degree in business management.  Robert was a bus driver for NYSARC, Canton..  He enjoyed fishing, playing the lottery, bingo, video games, reading and history.   In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made his family.

Ruth Ann Copeland 11/14/2019


 
Ruth Ann Copeland, 79, died Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Riverledge Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Ogdensburg, NY.  She was born on May 3, 1939 in Watertown, New York to the late Harley & Evelyn Lehr Watson. She graduated from Watertown High School.  She later attended Nursing School in the Watertown.
She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the United Helpers in Canton.  She is predeceased by her husband, Elgin Copland. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Sweet, Black River, NY and several nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
A private graveside service will be held in the South Edwards Cemetery on Saturday, November 23, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held on her Birthday in May.

Rebecca Haywood, 61, of Canton, died on February 10, 2019, at Riverledge Nursing Home. Calling hours will be Saturday, February 16, 11 am- 3 PM, the funeral service will follow at 3 PM, Reverend Robert Schrimer officiating.  There will be a burial on May 13, 2019, 11:00 am at Woodland Cemetery, Fine. Rebecca is survived by her daughter and son in law, Sarah and James Eshelman of DeKalb Junction, brothers, Malcolm and his wife Carol Hubbard of DeKalb, David Hubbard and Deborah Cady of Hannawa Falls, a sister, Louise Gardner of Norfolk, grandchildren, James Eshelman, Isaiah Eshelman, Patricia Eshelman, several nieces and nephews. Rebecca was born on January 8, 1958, in Potsdam, the daughter of the late, John Hubbard and Patricia Butterfield Gardner, Rebecca was raised by her Dad, Clarence Gardner after the passing of her father. She married Richard Haywood, on July 21, 1984, he died March 14, 1997. Rebecca was a homemaker who loved being with her grandchildren, playing bingo and crocheting. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Lawrence Valley SPCA or Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Rita A. Gooshaw, 73, of Heuvelton, died on January 3, 2019, at the Claxton Hepburn Medical Centers.  She will be laid to rest at Notre Dame Cemetery, Ogdensburg on May 20, 2019. There will be a reception to celebrate her life on May 25, 2019, 2 PM at her home, 174 Union Street, Heuvelton. Rita is survived by son, Kevin Gooshaw of Canton, her daughters, Kim and Thomas Broadhead of Wynantskill, Molly Gooshaw of Heuvelton, stepsons, Joseph Gooshaw of Willet, Randy Gooshaw of Wisconsin, a step daughter, Robin Gooshaw of Nebraska, sisters, Rose and Richard Mitchell of Ogdensburg, Lucy Carter of Ogdensburg, grandchildren, Crystal Joseph, Isaac Gooshaw, Amber Frost, April Gooshaw, Leah Broadhead, Noah Holden, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her stepson, Raymond Gooshaw.  She was born on September 11, 1945, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of William and Pearl Arnold White. She married Robert A. Gooshaw on December 7, 1973 at their home in Heuvelton, he predeceased her on September 23, 2008. She worked as head cook at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home for over 30 years.  She loved to take care of her grandchildren, shop, cook for an army and taking care of her pets. Robert E. Lottie Sr., 72, of DeKalb Junction, died on January 29, 2017, at his home. Calling hours will be, Thursday, February 2nd, 2 -4 and 7-9 PM, the funeral service will be, Friday February 3rd, 11 am, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating, at the funeral home, burial will be in the spring at the East DeKalb Cemetery. He is survived by his sons, Robert E. Lottie Jr. and Diane Monroe of Massena, Russell and his wife Dorcas “Sam” Lottie of DeKalb Junction, brothers, James Lottie and Melissa Sweet of DeKalb Junction, Jerry Lottie of Orleans, David Lottie of Canton, a sister, Shirley and her husband Kenneth Schwetje of Long Island, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, George Lottie, Lewis Lottie and Karen Bogardus. Bob was born on February 3, 1944 in Canton, the son of the late Lewis and Ruth Gleason Lottie. In April 1962, he married Norma J. Lucas at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, she predeceased him on December 15, 2015. He worked as a custodian for St. Lawrence County (building and grounds) for 25 years, retiring in 2009. He enjoyed being outdoors. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to American Cancer Society.

Reginald Chilton, 76, of DeKalb Junction, died on April 26, 2015 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 30th, 6 – 9 PM, at the funeral home, the  DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire department will have a service at 7 PM. The funeral service will be Friday, May 1, 11:30 am at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, Bob LaClair and Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Sophie”, his sons, Bryan J. Chilton of Chicago, Eric D. and his wife Jennifer Chilton of DeKalb Junction, a daughter, Lori E. Chilton of DeKalb Junction, grandchildren, Richard Harrison Chilton, Hillary Grace Chilton and Henry John Chilton, a brother in law John Denn, Minot, North Dakota, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, James Robert Chilton and Frederick Russell Chilton, and a sister, Rebecca Ruth Denn. Reginald was born on January 20, 1939 in Hermon, the son James Virgil and Ruth Hill Chilton. He married Elizabeth Hamilton on June 24, 1961 at the Old DeKalb United Methodist Church. Reggie owned and operated Chilton’s Sunoco in Canton from 1963 – 1995 when he retired. He was a member of the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, he held the chief’s position and served on the Fire Commissioners Board and was a 40+ year member of the Rainbow Rod and Gun Club. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, watching sporting events on tv, especially the Yankees, Giants, and SU and being at camp on the Oswegatchie. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of one’s choice.

A memorial service will be at the Russell Pilgrim Holiness Church on Sunday, April 19th, 11:00 am, Pastor Charles Colton officiating.  Burial will be in Hermon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
