Kenneth W. Fredette, 60, of Canton, died on December 22, at Riverledge Health Care Facility. There will be no services. He is survived by his wife, Leola L. Fredette, his father, Clifton Fredette of North Granville, daughters, Kara Fredette of Potsdam, Jessica and her husband Kori Eckel of Richville, Kaitlyn Fredette of Hermon, brothers, Jeffrey and his wife Stacy Fredette of Granville, Dean and his wife Michelle Fredette of Hampton, sisters, Pamela and her husband Jim Shova of Kingsburg, Tina Duel of Middletown Springs, Vermont, Robin and her husband Rodney Taylor of Chatsworth, California, Tammy Lampkins of Glens Falls, grandchildren, Trevor Patterson, Tanner Patterson, Kendall Patterson, Hunter Eckel, several nieces and nephews. Kenneth was born on August 12, 1954 in Granville, the son of Clifton and L. Jessie Martin Fredette, he graduated from Granville High School. He married Leola Donaldson on August 9, 1975, at the United Methodist Church in Canton. He was a farmer and loved doing carpentry and word puzzles. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of ones choice.

Beulah M. Davis, 86, of Hermon, died at her home, December 18, 2014. She was born in the Town of Pierrepont, the daughter of Leon and Edith Fifield Enslow. She married John Davis on December 12, 1959 in the Methodist Church by Richard Northup. Beulah had three children Fama and Nelson Carpenter, John Spicer (predeceased) and Mickey Stiles, two grandchildren, Michael and Christine VanHouse and Tiffany Spicer,granddaughter Michelle VanHouse (predeceased), two great grandchildren Ashlyn and Sophia Spicer, daughter of the heart, Kathy Carpenter. She attended Hermon School, she was a secretary for 9 years at Kraft foods, ran the Davis Adult Home until retiring and sold Avon for 10 years. She was a cancer survivor. Beulah was a member of the Hermon Ladies Auxiliary for 54 years, holding the offices of President, Secretary, Chaplin and 35 years as the treasurer, past president of St. Lawrence County Auxiliary, past member of O.E.S., Hermon, Hermonites Home Bureau Chairman for 17 years, the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizens Club, The Friday Girls and past member of the Hermon Volunteer Rescue Squad. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and camping. There will be no services, in lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Leona M. Holland, 79, of Heuvelton, died on December 13, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 17, 2 -4 and 7-9 PM, at the funeral home. A funeral service will December 18, 1:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church, Hermon, Pastor Robert Browning officiating. Burial will follow in Hermon Cemetery, Hermon. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Lucille and Teri Thompson of Chataguay, brothers, Gaylord Paro Jr. of Star Lake, Albert and his wife Lynn Paro of Mustang, Oklahoma, Charles and his wife, Alicia Paro of Canasota, sisters, Connie Cole of Sodus, Pauline Riddell of DeGrasse, Beatrice Peck of Heuvelton, who was also her caregiver, Sharron Steele of Star Lake, grandchildren, Bethany and her husband Jeremy Lynn, Aaron Thompson, Mark Thompson, Joel Thompson, Jonathan and his wife, Katie Thompson, Seth Thompson, Nathaniel and his wife Kirsten Thompson, Peter Thompson, Philip Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Benjamin Thompson, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Grace Holland, brothers, James Paro, Kenneth Paro and a sister, Thelma Denney. Leona was born on July 6, 1935 in the Town of Russell, the daughter of Gaylord and Jane Eells Paro. She attended Knox Memorial Central School. She married Harlow Holland on November 17, 1954 at the Gouverneur Methodist Church Parsonage by the Reverend Frank Brown, he predeceased her on July 1, 2009. Leona and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in DeKalb Junction, she also previously worked at Aiello’s and McCadam’s. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hermon and a past member of the Rebekha Lodge. Leona loved making cakes, crocheting, doing ceramics, reading and making jigsaw puzzles. Melbern Aldous, 77, of DeKalb Junction, died on November 16, at his home. A memorial service will be on Friday, November 28, 11:00 am, at the Fairview Cemetery Chapel, Canton, Pastor Robert Browning officiating. He is survived by his wife Grace C, a son Claude and his wife Ola Aldous of Potsdam, a granddaughter, Lidija Grace Aldous, sisters, Grace Bowles of Alexandria Bay, Muriel Patton of Hermon, several nieces and nephews. Melbern was born on June 29, 1937 in the Town of Canton, the son of Claude and Ethel Crary Aldous. He graduated from Hermon School. Melbern married Grace Christy on June 23, 1973 at the Colton United Methodist Church, Reverend Jones officiating. He owned and operated a farm on the Cousintown Road for 38 years and was a caretaker at the Hermon Cemetery until his retirement. He was a 50 + year member of the Masonic Lodge, serving as a past master. Melbern loved to hunt, was an avid sportsman, and outdoorsman, putting in his own fire wood. Ferns Gilson, 85, of DeKalb Junction, died on October 27, 2014 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Calling hours will be November 1, 12 – 2 PM, funeral service at 2 PM, Reverend Jerry Lambeth officiating. Burial will follow in Old DeKalb Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Viola C., a son Gary and his wife Bonnie Gilson of DeKalb Junction, daughters, Susazan Weller Williams of Russell, Carol and her husband Terry McKendree of DeKalb Junction, Lynn Hepfner of Salem, Ohio, a sister Elizabeth and her husband Kenneth Farr of Jackson, Mississippi, 14 grandchild, 4 step grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Helen Campbell. Ralph was born on May 4, 1929 in Ogdensburg, the son of Ralph and Henrietta Ferns Gilson. He married Viola Finley on December 30, 1949 at the Ogdensburg Pilgrim Holiness Church with Reverend Bernard Barton officiating. Ferns ran a family dairy farm for many years before owning and operating Gilson Logging with his son until his retirement in 2006 at age 77. He was a member of the Ogdensburg, Pilgrim Holiness Church, Morley Wesleyan Church, and most recently the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Harrisville. Ferns loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed camping at church camps, hunting, going to dinner at camp and he would fondly remember fishing with his grandfather. Glenn is survived by his wife Schelene, brothers, Arthur Dibble and companion Connie Lawson of Heuvelton, Paul and his wife Bonnie Dibble of Brasher Falls, Rick Dibble of Heuvelton, Brian Dibble of Havre, Montanna, sisters, Veronica and her husband Norman Newvine of Hermon, Dawn and her husband Leon Anson of Hermon, aunts, uncles, 29 nieces & nephews, and many great nieces & nephews. Glenn was born on November 2, 1959 in Canton, NewYork, the son of Stanley and Lydia Blair Dibble. He graduated from Hermon-DeKalb Central School. He married Schelene Watson on August, 23, 1997. He was employed as a truck driver for Gardenscape Quarry, Gouverneur. He previously worked as a maintenance man, mechanic, apiarist, tug boat worker, farm hand, and newspaper delivery. Glenn was truly a jack of all trades and could do anything with his hands. He was a member of the Sons of the Amvets, Heuvelton, Rensselaer Falls Volunteer Fire Dept., Rensselaer Falls Volunteer Rescue Squad, and the Kendrew Grange. M. Eloise Young, 84, of Canton, died on July 14, 2014, at Spicer Adult Care Home. A private family graveside service will be at the Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, New York. Eloise is survived by sons, Ray and Joan Young, Canton, Mark and Lynn Young, Kirkville, daughters, Susan and Michael Spadaccini, Dexter, Cynthia Young, Canton, Karon Yerdon, Baldwinsville, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a sister, Emma St. John. She was born on August 12, 1929 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Ray and Catherine Stacy Rowland. She graduated from Dexter High School, and then earned a Bachelors’ of Science (Nursing) Degree from Syracuse University in 1951. Eloise married Keith Young on March 19, 1951 in Dexter, N.Y.; he died on March 27, 2000. She was the director of patient services for the St. Lawrence County Public Health Nursing Service for 30+ years until her retirement in 1998. Eloise was a member of the Dexter Historical Society, and the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church. She loved family parties, picnics and get togethers. She was an avid SU Basketball and Yankees Fan, liked knitting, sewing, sports, camping and helping others. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Dexter Historical Society.

Jeff is survived by his wife Ann Jane, daughters Lynn Frances and husband Christopher Zaidan of Tupper Lake, Anya Louise Villeneuve and Nick Levesque, Tupper Lake, stepsons, Bryan Bush of Arlington, Virginia, Zachariah and wife Rebecca Bush of Norwood, stepdaughter, Sally Bush of Raymondville, a brother, Russell Villeneuve of Tupper Lake, a sister Cathy and her husband James McNamara of Stuart, Florida, 2 grandchildren, Sireea Zaidan and James Zaidan, 4 step grandchildren, 2 nephews and a niece. He was born on September 15, 1949 in Tupper Lake, the son of Raymond “Mammy” and Katherine Burch Villeneuve. He graduated from Tupper Lake High School, he received an AS degree from SUNY Canton, and a BS from SUNY Oswego. He was in the Army from 1970 -1972. Jeff married Ann Bush on April 14, 2004 in Stuart, Florida. He was a logger his entire life. Jeffrey was also a Lieutenant at the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility until his retirement. Jeff was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 11, and loved working in his shop, cooking, hunting, fishing, and being a mentor. Contributions can be made to Hermon Volunteer Rescue Squad.

A graveside service will be in the Hermon Cemetery, Hermon, on July 8, 2014 at 3:30 PM, with military honors, Lay Pastoral Assistant Martha Hellmer, officiating. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie L. Cutrie, a son David F. Cutrie, and companion Tina Wells, of Heuvelton, a daughter, Peggy J. Gilbo, and companion Joe Johnson of Heuvelton, a sister, Mary Ann and husband Ray Gemmill, Ogdensburg, grandchildren, Jaden Hunter Johnson , Jolee Johnson, Felicity Wells, Jedidiah Wells, Jazmyn Wells, Xavior Wells, Baryden Joshua David Mason, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Cutrie and a sister, Jane Cutrie. David was born Ogdensburg the son of Francis and Fern Towne Cutrie. He graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1975 and he was in the US Army from 1984 – 1987. David married Bonnie Peterson on April 17, 1997 in Mobile, Alabama. He was a corrections officer at Riverview Correctional Facility. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.
