Clara Faye Putman, 94, of Hermon, died, February 26, 2013, at her home. Calling hours will be, Friday, March 1, 1 -3 and 6- 8 PM, the funeral service will be at 8 PM, Lay Pastoral Assistant Martha Helmer officiating. Burial will be May 4, 2013 at 10:00 am at Hermon Cemetery, Hermon. Faye is survived by a son, John Putman of Canton, daughters, Diana Putman, Hermon, Patricia Wilson, Hermon, Bonnie and her husband Lee Cox, Willow Street, PA, 11 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Onita Boyden and granddaughters, Deborah Lynn Silva and Denise Louise Sharkey. Faye was born on November 22, 1918 in the Town of Edwards, the daughter of Dale and Edithel Rose Miller. She graduated from Edwards School and then attended nursing school in Syracuse. Faye married Merrill M. Putman on May 20, 1939 at the Baptist Parsonage in Gouverneur.  She was the postmistress at the Russell Post Office and retired in 1983 after 20+ years of service. Faye was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Edwards, and the Hermon Baptist Church, where she was very active, including teaching Sunday school. She loved gardening, painting, bead making, making quilts, sewing, doing any kind of crafts, fishing, camping, hunting and cooking. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
