Everett M. Risley, 90, formerly of DeKalb Junction and currently in Canastota, died Tuesday evening February 2, 2016, in Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton. Born in De Kalb Junction, on January 17, 1926, he was the son of Herbert N. and Laura Belle Stone Risley. A resident of this area for the past twenty-seven years, Everett was educated in De Kalb Junction schools. Prior to his retirement, Everett was employed with Fremac Marine Sales in Lakeport, previously with the former N. G. Deppoliti and Sons, Inc. of Canastota and owned and operated an automotive garage and dairy farm in De Kalb Junction. He loved playing guitar and working with anything mechanical and was of the Methodist faith. Surviving are his three sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Kathy Risley of Canastota, Rick and Lisa Risley of Oneida and Steven and Laney Risley of St. Augustine, Florida; fifteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sons, Charles in 1987, Greg in 2011, Keith at birth, his daughter, Lisa at birth and two brothers, Obed and Gaylord Risley. Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Saturday at the Allen-Denesha Funeral Home, De Kalb Junction, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. Interment will be made in Union Cemetery, De Kalb Junction. Friends may call at the funeral home, 11 AM to 1 PM, Saturday, prior to the funeral service. Contributions may be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness, 7168 Columbia Gateway Drive, Suite 100, Columbia, MD 21046.

  1. I am sorry for the loss of Everett. I’m always going to remember him on the old family farm and all holiday meals with the extended family.

  2. It is always sad to hear of loved ones passing. I will always and have always thought of Everett with smiles and laughter. I enjoyed him and the farm very much.
