  1. To Jim’s family: I am a 2nd cousin of Elizabeth. Elizabeth’s father and my Grandpa Rice (Edwin) were brothers. My mother was Florence Rice Hall (Sonny (Erwin) and Mary are my older siblings.
I always found Jim to be friendly and pleasant to visit with, as was Elizabeth. They seemed to be such a happy couple and now he is with her again, at last forever. You will be in my thoughts and prayers and am sure you have many happy memories that you will always cherish. It is my understanding that you were very supportive of Jim, as well as Elizabeth, and you can be thankful that you were such an important presence in their lives. God bless all of you!

I liked and respected your parents even though I didn’t know them especially well. I will always remember the kindness they showed me the numerous times I spent on the farm. Marsha, you and your parents and the whole family were there for me at a difficult time in my life. I have fond memories of being on the farm. God Bless. Ginny

  12. Dear All of the Brices and extended famlies,
We were saddened to learn of the great loss of the head of your families. I had the pleasure of growing up and interacting with Jim, Betty and all of the original family. I spent numerous times at the farm as your mom taught me many things about music since she was my piano player as I sang through the years. Jim would just smile and say, “Don’t worry about it” when I asked if I was taking too much of Betty’s time as she accompanied me around the state. When I was about 20 she asked if I ever thought about getting a guitar, because she was getting a little busy with all the kids that kept coming. I did and my grandkids sing with me still. I’m sure many of you still carry on the musical tradition.
Jim was one of the nicest people I ever knew. He always had a smile, handshake or pat on the back for those he met. We always saw him at sporting events, grange suppers and meetings, town meetings and church suppers. He also spent time helping improve Hermon-Dekalb school as a board member. He loved the people around him and the area he lived in, but most of all he loved his family. Jim and Betty now have some time to prepare that great church supper and grange buffet for the rest of us.
We’re sorry we can’t be with you, but our thoughts and prayers are with you. Our love to all!

  13. To all my cousins and family. We will all miss Uncle Jim!!! He was a sweetheart and a blessing to us all!! I picture Uncle Jim and my dad in heaven having an ice cream party (butter pecan for sure).
We love you all and you are in our prayers. May you feel the love and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ during this emotional time.
Our love, Beverly, Sean, Sarah and Kaitlin Crowley

  14. Dear Brice family,
Sending my condolences to all of you. Uncle Jim was such a wonderful husband, father and friend. He will really be missed but now he is with his siblings probably enjoying a hayride around heaven. He reminded me so much of my dad. Men of few words and the kindest hearts I ever known. There is not a day that goes by that i don’t think of my dad so the memories you will also have for a lifetime. What a comfort that is. Love and miss you all. Wish we lived closer together.
Barb Brice Stancliff, Bob, Nikki, Brooke, Landon, Bella and Corban.

  15. Dear Cindy: So sorry to hear about your dad’s passing and sorry to be writing this so late.
