John E. Newvine, 60, of Gouverneur, died on September 7, 2018, at Strong Memorial Hospital. There will be calling hours on Saturday, September 15, 2018, 2 – 5 PM at the funeral home. John is survived by his wife, Vicki Newvine, his father, James Newvine of Plattsburgh, a son, Michael Newvine of Heuvelton, a daughter Rachel Newvine and Eric Payment of Tupper Lake, a brother, James Newvine Jr. of DeKalb Junction, a sister Jane Miller Newvine of Ovid, a granddaughter, Adelyn Mae Wayering of Tupper Lake, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Joann Newvine in 2010. John was born on November 5, 1957, in Gouverneur, New York, the son of James and Joann Horton Newvine. He graduated from Hermon DeKalb Central School, on May 25, 1991 he married Vicki Alguire at the Christ Church of Love in Old DeKalb. He worked for United Helpers in Evans Mills as a maintenance man, prior to that he worked for Witherbee and Whalen in Canton for many years. He loved playing golf, bowling, and playing horseshoes. He played horseshoes in the Green Belt League. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made his wife Vicki Newvine.

  2. Our thoughts and prayers Iare with you at this very difficult time. We have fond memories of the summers that our families spent together back when we were just kids. Playing hide and seek, red rover, or a card game,, We always had a great time. And if Uncle Him made his bbq chicken, I was a happy camper. I hold these memories in a special place in my heart. Rest in peace Doc.
