Joseph M. Spadaccini

Joseph M. Spadaccini, 62, of Canton, formerly of DeKalb Junction, died on June 20, 2023, at his home.  There will be calling hours, Saturday, June 24, 2023, 9 – 11 am, followed by a graveside service, 11:15 am at the Union Cemetery, DeKalb Junction, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. Jospeh is survived by his sons, Shawn Spadaccini and his fiancé, Emily Pinckney of South Colton, Anthony Spadaccini and his longtime companion, Brienne Gleason of Fort Edward, NY, his brother, Tomme and his wife Michelle Spadaccini of CT, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born on August 10, 1960 in Hermon, NY, the son of the late James and Sylvia Bush Spadaccini. He graduated from the Hermon DeKalb Central School in 1978 and continued his education at SUNY Potsdam, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in in mathematics in 1982. A marriage to Jodie Sanderson ended in divorce.  Joe was a corrections officer at the Gouverneur Correctional Facility until his retirement in 2019, with 32 years on the job. Joseph was a member of the Moose Lodge 2397 in Potsdam and an associate member at the Canton VFW Post 1231.  He loved spending time with his family and friends, was a fan of music (all genre’s), appreciated wonderful singing voices, and was a NY Giants fan. Jennifer A. Clark, 73, of Edwards, died on May 26, 2023, at her home.  There will be no services. Jennifer is survived by her loving daughters, Brittany (Jason Brunet) Clark of Hermon, Kaitlin Clark of Edwards, long time companion, Frederick Glade Sr. of Edwards, grandchildren, Stuart Ashley Clark and Wyatt James Johnson. She was predeceased by her son, Stuart Ashley Sanderson on February 1986. She was born on September 13, 1949, in the Bronx, the daughter of the late Aurora and Harry Dunham. Jennifer earned a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Miami University. Recently she was an advocate for soldiers at Fort Drum. Prior to that she was a paralegal, and a television producer at PBS producing the show You and the Law.  She was currently writing a show for Netflix.  She loved to travel, horses, write and her career as a television producer. Robert B. Miller, 88, of DeKalb Junction, died on April 28, 2023, at his home. There will be calling hours, Friday, May 5, 12 – 2 PM, followed by a graveside service, 2:30 PM at the Hermon Cemetery, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. Robert is survived by his son, Robert “ Mike” and his wife Sandra Miller of Front Royal, VA, daughters, Kelly and her husband Ralph Johnson of Madrid, Karen Perry of Ruckersville, VA, Shirley Mitchell and her husband Douglas Spotswood of Orange, VA, brothers, Edward and his wife Mary Miller of Palmyra, Everette and his wife Marlene Miller of OK, Ronald and Eloise Miller of Newark, a sister, Gloria Zehr of Gouverneur, a daughter in-law Sandra Miller of Norwood, Howard Kinch, a friend and family, step children, Judy Phillips, John Caringi, 14  grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Benjamin Dale Miller, Randy J. Miller, a daughter, Maryanne Miller, brothers, John Miller, Lawrence Miller, Donald Miller, sisters, Onalee Matoon and Joyce Moore, a step son Mike Caringi, a grandson, Joseph Miller, three great grandchildren. He was born on April 4, 1935, in Fowler, the son of the late Bertie and Velva Vanatter Miller. He graduated from the Hermon High School in 1954. Marriages to Shirley Miner Fiacco and Helen Caringi ended in divorce.  He married Barbara Hance on December 27, 2014 at the DeKalb Senior Housing Community Room, she predeceased him in 2019. Robert owned the Tupper Lake Bakery, where he was also the baker.  Prior to that he was a general contractor for the Village of Potsdam. Robert was a very active volunteer, helping to improve people’s lives. He was on the St. Lawrence County Council, N. Y. Statewide Senior Action Council (past president, 4 years, and vice president 3 years) a member of the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club, Edwards Senior Citizen Club (past president), the Massena Senior Citizen Club and a delegate to the Russell Senior Citizen Club.  He was a member of the DeGrasse Methodist Church (he served as chairman, assistant chairman and was on the church board), the DeGrasse, Clare, South Russell Volunteer Fire Department.  He loved selling ads and tickets, going to the North Country Senior Rama, playing cards (Pedro), watching television, playing horseshoes, checkers chess and bowling, He was a NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. Leona J. (Rogers) Boprey, 92, of Hyde Park, Vermont and formerly of DeKalb Junction, died on April 28, 2023, at her daughter’s home. There will be a graveside service, Saturday, May 6, 2023, 12 PM at the East DeKalb Cemetery, Pastor Reginald Curtis officiating. Leona is survived by her sons, James “Jimmy” Rogers of DeKalb Junction, Kimball and his wife Lynn Rogers of Kentucky, daughters, Judith Poirier of West Virginia, Pamela Rogers of New Hampshire, Karen Dupont of Vermont, a special niece, Regina “Jean” Stewart of Arizona, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Rudolph Wade, Waneta DeFreest and Thelma Putnam.  She was born on September 5,1930, in Hancock, Vermont, the daughter of the late Perley and Bertha Manning Wade. She graduated from the Vera Hanks School of Nursing in Vermont as an LPN. Leona married Cleo Rogers on November 30, 1946 he predeceased her on September 24, 2004. Later she married Harold Thomas Boprey on November 24, 2008, he predeceased her on September 19, 2011. Her last job was as a librarian for CSEP in Canton, NY, prior to that she was an LPN at Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury, Vermont. Leona was a prior member at the Fresh Start Fellowship Church in Rensselaer Falls, NY, the United Trinity Assembly of God Church in Hyde Park, Vermont, the Hyde Park VFW Post 7779.  She loved music, reading, doing crossword puzzles, picture puzzles, crocheting, dancing, coloring, reading cards, bird watching and flower gardening.  She shared her love of music by volunteering to play at her church, the local nursing homes and senior housing. Eleanor Jane Dewey 99, passed away on Sunday March 19, 2023 at AHC Clarksville, Tennessee.
There will be no funeral services. 
Eleanor was born September 3, 1923 in Fowler, New York daughter of Brayton and Helen (Fuller) Hamilton.
She attended Herman schools and worked 21 years at Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, New York.
On August 11, 1945 she married Herbert (Ken) Dewey in Gouverneur, New York. On their retirement they moved to Florida, where they enjoyed Square Dancing, ceramics and card games. She moved back to Hermon, New York after her husband passed in 1990.
She is survived by her sister Alice Hooper of Harrisville, New York. son Dwight (Marilyn) Dewey of Golden Meadow, Louisiana, daughter Eileen (James) Farrow of Clarksville, Tennessee. 7 grandchildren Michele Jackson, Amy Spencer, Robert Jackson, Sheila Cleveland, Pete Dewey, Dana Guidry and Tina Ledet. 17 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Brayton and Helen Hamilton, husband Herbert K. Dewey, son Stuart Phillip Dewey, sister Nancy Hamilton, brothers John Hamilton, Harold Hamilton and Gordan Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Lori E. Chilton, 60 of DeKalb Junction, died on March 17, 2023, at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care, Canton. There will be calling hours at the funeral home, Saturday, March 25, 2023, 1 PM – 3 PM. Burial will be at a later date at the Old DeKalb Cemetery, Old DeKalb, NY. Lori is survived by her mother Elizabeth (Sophie) Chilton, Canton, her brothers, Bryan Chilton of Syracuse, Eric and his wife Jennifer Chilton of DeKalb Junction, nephews, R. Harrison and his wife Sloan Chilton, Henry Chilton, a niece, Hillary Chilton, dear friends, David and Suzann Conklin, uncles, Roger and David Hamilton, and several cousins. She was predeceased by her father Reginald V. Chilton. She was born on May 21,1962, in Canton, the daughter of Reginald and Elizabeth Hamilton Chilton. Lori graduated from Hermon DeKalb Central School in 1980, where she was a stellar athlete, she continued her education at Herkimer Community College. She worked as a CNA at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care, in Canton, prior to that she was a laborer at Cianbro, and at TJ Madden. Lori loved to fish, bike, go to yard sales, boating, animals, building camp fires, being at her family camp in Old DeKalb on the Oswegatchie River, and at the Conklin’s camp at Pleasant Lake. She celebrated ten years of sobriety with the help of her AA family. Lori’s family would like to send their gratitude to the entire staff at United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care, Canton, for their wonderful and loving care of Lori. Perry T. Masters, 52, of Ogdensburg, died on February 27, 2023.  Services are private. A graveside service with military honors will be May 9, 2024 at the Old DeKalb Cemetery, 10:30 am. Perry is survived by his siblings, Kelly Mandigo of Canton, Linda and her husband Ed Newcombe of Rensselaer Falls, Diane and her husband Tom Pike of Ogdensburg, Brian Masters of Webster, Lyle Masters II of DeKalb, his stepmother Nancy Masters, an Uncle Ken Masters, his good friend Lee Larby, several nieces and nephews. He was born on March 18,1970, in Gouverneur, the son of the late, Lyle Masters and Vicky Morse. Perry graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1989, he then enlisted in the Army.  He was in the active military till 1995, when he then went into the reserves. He worked as a logger for Sanford Inc. in Colton.  He was an active member of the VFW Post 2936 in Ogdensburg, the A.D. Charbonneau Council 258 Knights of Columbus in Ogdensburg, AMVETS Post 19 in Ogdensburg and AMVETS Post 1997 in Heuvelton.  Perry loved to collect Elvis’s memorabilia and impersonate Elvis, talking to people on the phone, drawing and singing karaoke.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Association or the Diabetes Association.

Martha H. Reynolds, 86, of DeKalb Junction, died on February 26, 2023, at United Helpers Canton Nursing Home.  There will be calling hours at the funeral home, Thursday, March 9, 2023, 11am – 1 PM. The funeral service will be at 1PM, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating, burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Martha is survived by her sons, William D. and his wife Shawna Reynolds of Clarkston, Michigan, Robert T. Reynolds of Shelton, Connecticut, her sisters, Lenore Bovay of DeKalb Junction, Patricia and her husband Sanford Bacon of DeKalb Junction, 2 grandchildren, Jedidiah Reynolds, Wyatt Reynolds, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Maryann Frisco. She was born on September 30, 1936, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of the late, Elmer and Dorothy Mattison Elsey. Martha graduated from Hermon DeKalb Central School in 1953, then continued her education at the Ogdensburg Business School graduating in 1954. She married William A. Reynolds III on September 30, 1956 at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church with the Reverend Waters officiating, William predeceased her on May 25, 2001. Martha last worked in the credit office at Sears in Livonia, Michigan.  She was an active member of the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, a member of the DeKalb Historical Association and a former member of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce, holding the office of Vice President for many years.  Martha loved to square dance, sew, act, play the guitar, sing in the church choir, have friends to her home for dinner and parties.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, 4302 USH 11, DeKalb Junction, NY, 13630. Martha’s family would like to thank the staff at United Helpers for the wonderful care Martha received at the nursing home.

Viola C. Gilson, 92, of DeKalb Junction, died on February 20, 2023, at Canton Potsdam Hospital.  There will be calling hours at the funeral home, Wednesday, February 22, 2023, 11am – 1 PM. The funeral service will be at 1PM, Pastor Stephen Lambeth officiating, burial will follow in Old DeKalb Cemetery. Viola is survived by her son Gary and his wife Bonnie Gilson of Russell, daughters, Susazan Williams of Russell, and Carol and her husband Terry McKendree of DeKalb Junction, her brother Maynard and his wife Jean Finley of Ogdensburg, 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Finley, Gerald Finley, Claude Finley, sisters, Doris Johnston, Eva McDonald, Ella Finley and Dorothy Finley. She was born on April 13, 1930, in the Town of Oswegatchie, the daughter of the late, Earl and Irene Durham Finley. Viola married Ralph F. Gilson on December 30,1949 at the Ogdensburg Pilgrim Holiness Church, the Reverend Bernard Barton officiating, he predeceased her on October 27, 2014.  She was a homemaker and foster mother to many. Viola was a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Ogdensburg and Harrisville.  She loved being a homemaker, reading, baking, cooking and camping in her Winnebago.  Contributions can be made to the Pilgrim Holiness Church Harrisville at 14374 Maple Street, Harrisville, New York 13648.

Marley James Delorme, 16 days old, of Canton, died on February 13, 2023, at his home. There will be no services.  Marley is survived by his parents, Hudson Tice and Caleb Delorme of Canton, his brother, Marcus Delorme, maternal grandmother, Donielle DeBault of Gouverneur, paternal grandparents, Edith Bullock and Eugene Delorme, of DeKalb Junction, great paternal grandparents, Joyce and Ken Delorme, of DeKalb Junction, his Aunt Gizzelle Jackson of Gouverneur. He was born on January 28, 2023, in Potsdam.  Marley was a happy boy, always laughing and smiling.  He loved being with his Mom, Dad, Marcus and his whole family.  They will miss him always.  Contributions can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
