John E. Davis, 86, of Hermon, died on May 27, 2021, at his home. There will be no services. John is survived by his wife Elaine, a brother James Davis and a sister Esther Jennings. He was predeceased by his brother, Morris Davis, and a sister Doris Davis. He was born on January 26, 1935 in Pierrepont, to the late Erwin and Francis LaLonde Davis. John was in the Army from 1957 – 1959 when he was honorably discharged. He married Beulah Enslow on October 12, 1959, she died on December 18, 2014, and he then married Elaine Gollinger on April 15, 2017. He worked as a construction worker in Niagara Falls and then as a truck driver. He was a member of the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club, a member and past chief of the Hermon Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Gouverneur Elks Club, Teamsters Union in Massena, Carr Pond Hunting Club, and a past member of AMVETS Post 11. He enjoyed going to Woody’s for coffee in the morning, hunting, watching Westerns, and was a Boston Red Socks Fan. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hermon Volunteer Fire Department.

Donald W. Cook, 90, of Hermon, died on March 26, 2021, at his home. There will be calling hours on Sunday, March 28, 2021 from 1 – 4 PM, at the funeral home, a funeral mass will be Monday, March 29, 10 am at St. Mary’s Church, Canton, Father Brian Stitt officiating, burial will follow at St. Henry’s Cemetery, DeKalb Junction. Due to COVID restrictions face masks and social distancing are required at the funeral home and church. Donald is survived by his sons, Steven and his wife Kitty Cook of Massena, Roy Cook of Hermon, daughters, Donna and her husband John Collins of Russell, Deborah and her husband Vincent Warren of Malone, Vicki and her husband William Riley of Ballston Lake, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his son, Dennis Cook, his daughter, Christina Cook, a brother, Bernard Cook, sisters, Marion Reed, Rebecca Brunet, Margaret Kirkey, and Rita Blevins. He was born on May 22, 1930 in Ogdensburg, to the late, Roy and Veronica Tiernan Cook. He graduated from Hermon School in 1949. Don married Lula Mae Coller on October 23, 1950 at St. Henry’s Church, Father Parisian officiating, she died on July 26, 2019. He worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway in the late 50’s and was a farmer on his family’s farm. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, and previously St. Henry’s Church, where he was on the parish council, he was a member of the Bell Hunting Club. He was the Hermon Town Assessor, in 1976. He loved spending time with his family and working on the family farm with his Dad. He played basketball, baseball, poker, Pedro, raced cars, and gave rides with his horse drawn wagon. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hermon Rescue Squad, Canton Rescue Squad, St. Lawrence Valley Hospice or the SPCA.

Carl A. Bristol, 67, of Canton, died on March 21, 2021, at Central Park Rehabilitation Center, Syracuse. There will be a graveside service on April 19, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Hermon Cemetery, Pastor John Frary officiating. Carl is survived by his sons, Jeremy and his wife Brittany Bristol of Scotia, Justin and his wife Karen Bristol of DeKalb Junction, brothers, Rodney Bristol of Russell, Sidney and his wife Tina Bristol of Russell, Jeffrey Bristol of Potsdam, Leo Bristol of Russell, sisters Carolyn and her husband Tom Moulthorp of Canton, Vera “Jeannine” Randall of Ohio, grandchildren, Kyle Bristol, Lily Bristol, Sam Vandeputte, John Vandeputte, several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Bristol. He was born on June 20, 1953 in Gouverneur, to the late, Leo and Esther Dennee Bristol. He graduated from Hermon DeKalb Central School in 1972 and attended classes at SUNY Canton. Carl married Carol Fleming on July 30, 1977 which ended in divorce. He worked at Newton Falls Paper Mill, was a driver for LeBerge and Curtis, Diamond Propane and M&M Trucking in Russell. He was a member of the Hermon Volunteer Fire Department. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, and fishing. Beverly T. Conklin, 95, of Clayton and formerly of Richville, died on March 16, 2021, at her home. A private burial will be in the spring at Hillcrest Cemetery. Beverly is survived by her daughter, Christine Matthews of Clayton, stepsons, Edward and his wife Ruth Conklin of DeKalb, Norman Conklin of Watertown, Vickie Comacho of Arizona, Cheryl and her husband Carl Clark of Harrisville, a sister, Mary Cowles of Plattsburg, 3 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her son Danford Thornton on June 20, 1976 and her brother Rodney Jennings. She was born on September 27, 1925 in Gouverneur, to the late, Judson and Gertrude Jones Jennings. She graduated from Potsdam High. Bev married Judson Thornton on April 24, 1943 and he died on March 19, 1960, she then married Curtis Conklin on May 16, 1964 he died on December 20, 2013. She was a mental therapy aide at Marcy Psychiatric Center in Marcy, New York. She enjoyed knitting, animals of all kinds and gardening. She loved her cats Lucy and Buddy. Georgia M. Brothers, 73, of DeKalb Junction, died on February 3, 2021, at her home. Calling hours will be Friday, February 12, 2021, 12:30 – 2:30 PM, face masks and social distancing will be required. Burial will be in the spring at Madrid Cemetery. Georgia is survived by her sons, Wade and his wife Christina Brothers of Arkansas, Dennis and his wife Nina Brothers of Missouri, a daughter Amy and her husband Robert Smith of Hermon, a brother John Edward Moulton of Madrid, a foster sister Louise Planty of Ogdensburg, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother Earl Peter Moulton. She was born on August 13, 1947 in the village of Potsdam, to the late, George Joseph and Olive Marie Chatell Moulton. She graduated from Madrid Waddington High School in 1965 and then graduated from the Richard DeToto school of Hairstyle, Syracuse in 1966. Georgia married Hubert Brothers on March 26, 1966 at the Madrid United Methodist Church in, he died on October 5, 2016. She was a hair dresser, she owned and operated The Junction Snip It, retiring in July 2014, and prior to that she owned The Isle of Style in Canton. She was a member of the Kendrew Grange and the Richville Home Fellowship Church. She loved spending time with her family, playing the piano, and singing in the choir. She raised many foster children here and in Kentucky and was a Fresh Air Fund family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Richville Baptist Church or the Kendrew Grange.

Freda is survived by her sons, Michael and his wife Susan Spadaccini of Dexter, Allen and his wife Julie Spadaccini of DeKalb Junction, a daughter, Mary and her husband Douglas Dobson of Canton, grandchildren, Andrea and her husband Jon Roma of Vestal, Marina Spadaccini and her companion Shawn Thompson of Boiling Springs, NC, Angela and her husband Glenn Thomas of Canton, Caitlin Spadaccini of Burlington, VT, Jenevieve Spadaccini of Burlington, Vt, Jonathon Hermanson of South Dakota, Jamie and his wife Heather Peters of DeGrasse, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her sister Marie Daniels. She was born on February 20, 1932 in Pierrepont, to the late, Elmer and Jennie Shantal Enslow. Freda married Michael Spadaccini on May 3, 1952 at St. Henry’s Church, DeKalb Junction, he died on September 21, 1996. She was a devoted homemaker her whole life. She was dearly loved by her family and will be deeply missed. She was a past parishioner of St. Henry’s Church, a member of the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizens Club, and TOPS of DeKalb. James C. Spadaccini, 86, of DeKalb Junction, died on January 7, 2021, at United Helpers Maplewood. There will be a graveside service May 14 2021, 10 am,at the Union Cemetery, DeKalb Junction, Father Bryon Stitt officiating. Jim is survived by his sons, Joseph and his wife Jodie Spadaccini of DeKalb Junction, Tomme and his wife Michelle Spadaccini of Vernon, CT, sister in laws, Frieda Spadaccini of Canton and Gloria Spadaccini of Russell, grandchildren, Anthony Spadaccini and companion Brie Gleason of South Glen Falls, Shawn Spadaccini and his companion Emily Pinckney of Canton, Jason Spadaccini and Matthew Spadaccini of Vernon, CT, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased his siblings, Phillip Spadaccini, Michael Spadaccini, Nicholas Spadaccini and Mary Dawson. He was born on February 19, 1934 in the Town of DeKalb, to the late, Antonio and Anna Autunna Spadaccini. Jim graduated from the DeKalb High School in 1952 and married Sylvia “Sue” Bush on May 14, 1960 at St. Henry’s Church, DeKalb Junction, she predeceased him on January 17, 2012. He worked as a custodian at the Hermon School and then the Hermon Dekalb Central School until his retirement in 1999. While he was working at the school he also worked as a cheesemaker at Kraft in Canton. He made many friends while he worked at Hermon DeKalb Central School. He was a parishioner of St. Henry’s Church and St. Mary’s Church, a member of the DeKalb Hermon and Senior Citizen Club. He was a Yankee and University of Connecticut girls’ basketball fan. Ethel I. Newcombe, 89, of Richville, died on December 18, 2020, at the Gouverneur Hospital. There will be calling hours, Monday, December 21, 12 – 2 PM, social distancing and face masks are required. A private family service will follow and then the burial will take place at the Old DeKalb Cemetery, Old DeKalb, NY. Ethel is survived by her siblings, Howard and his wife Marion Newcombe of DeKalb, Joseph and his wife Marilyn Newcombe of Rock Fall, CT, Charles and his wife Barbara Newcombe of Edwards, Lawrence and his wife Pamela Newcombe of Glenn Falls, Mary Ames of Canton, Ilene Cole and her companion Ivan Gordon of Ogdensburg, a sister in law, Helen Newcombe of Rensselear Falls, a brother in law Neal Newvine of Amenia, NY, 16 nephews and 15 nieces. She was predeceased by her companion Murray Miller, siblings, Edward “Earl” Newcombe, Floyde Newcombe, and Dorothy Newvine. She was born on January 4, 1931 in Heuvelton, to the late, Lawrence and Marion Bush Newcombe. She graduated from Richville High School in 1949 and then graduated in 1950 from the Ogdensburg Business School. Ethel was a bank teller at the Community Bank in Gouverneur until her retirement December 31, 1997 after 31 years. She was a life member of the DeKalb Hermon and Gouverneur Senior Citizens Clubs, and the E. J. Noble Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to knit, crochet and play bingo. Ethel’s family would like to thank Raymond Crouse for his kind and loving care. Paul A. Trimm, 69, of Hermon, died on November 13, 2020, at his home. There will be calling hours, Monday, November 16, 10 am – 12:45 PM, social distancing and face masks are required. A private family service will follow and then the burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Norwood. Paul is survived by his wife, Marsha, a son, Allen Trimm of DeKalb Junction, daughters, Krista and her husband Chris Carrow of Hermon, Kamie Trimm and her fiancé, Chris Jenkins of Hermon, Nikki Trimm and her fiancé, Bryce Gibson of Hermon, a sister, Sandra St. Dennis of Glen Falls, grandchildren, Chati and her husband Craig Brunet, Christopher Carrow, Connor Carrow, Cooper Carrow, Piper Gravelle, Temperance Gravelle, Paul Gibson, Tiffany Jenkins, Emily Jenkins, Adalynn Gibson, great grandchildren, Craig Brunet and Amelia Brunet. He was predeceased by his siblings, James Trimm Sr., Richard Trimm, Archie Trimm, Phyllis White, Beverly White, Elaine Payne, and Donna White. He was born on September 3, 1951 in Potsdam, to the late, Archie and Eleanor Rust Trimm Sr. He married Marsha Garow on August 30, 1980 at the United Methodist Church in Norwood. Paul was a laborer for the St. Lawrence County Highway Department until his retirement in 2009. He was a board member and firefighter for the Hermon Volunteer Fire Department and was a past firefighter for the Potsdam and Norwood Volunteer Fire Departments. Paul loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed driving the fire truck, hunting, fishing, camping and being an avid Yankee Fan and a NASCAR enthusiast. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Hermon Volunteer Fire Dept.
