Born: September 18, 1975; Springfield, MA, Died: August 31, 2019; Parishville, NY.

It seems to have happened again!  My plans have been ruined.  I had just secured two great jobs and was moving back to Massachusetts.  The thoughtless actions of selfish individual cancelled my husband, Thomas “Tank” Sanner and my next adventure.

Now I sit here at the pearly gates hoping God enjoys my sense of humor.  I know I wasn’t perfect but I hope my score card shows I tried hard to lend a hand to those in need.

Cry if you must but then toss your head back and laugh.  Toast a drink to our memories, enjoy a brownie and smile as I’m okay.

Thomas (Tank ) Sanner would like you to bring your memories of Dawn and join him in a celebration of life ceremony. The celebration will be Saturday, September 21, 1:00 PM at the DeKalb Junction Fire Department, 4323 US Highway 11, DeKalb Junction.  Bring a dish to pass, the family will provide desserts and let’s share our tears and memories.  (Contact Naomi, 315-261-9936 if bringing a dish).  Help us honor her memory with family and friends the way she wanted it to be.

Laurel E. Van Ornum

Laurel Van Ornum, 60, of Ogdensburg, died on August 18, 2019. Calling hours will be Thursday, August 29, 1- 2 PM, at the funeral home, a graveside service  to follow at Wayside Cemetery, Richville, Certified Lay Servant Frank Carter officiating.  Laurel is survived by her mother, Joyce Donnelly of Tupper Lake, her brother, Floyd F Donnelly Jr. of Massena, sisters, Eliza and her husband Dale Fasset of Michigan, Lisa and her husband William Longshore of Morley, April and her husband Wayne Storm of Massena, Gertrude and her husband Richard Kentile of Tupper Lake, Shannon Donnelly of Canton, several nieces, nephews, as well as several loving friends and caregivers at United Helpers.  She was predeceased by her father, Lloyd Van Ornum Sr. and her brother Lloyd Van Ornum Jr. Laurel was born on May 14, 1959, in the Town of Canton, the daughter of Lloyd and Joyce Barden Van Ornum. She resided at the Centennial Manor IRA. She attended United Helpers Day Habilitation Program. Laurel was a kind, loving person.  Enjoyed puzzles, cards, magazines, adventure, traveling, coffee with her friends, barbeques, loved animals and children.  Music of almost all kinds.  She was hilarious and loved to play pranks.  Loved having girl’s night and spa days. She was the best hype person around and could make you feel great just for walking into a room. Lula Mae Cook, 86, of Hermon, died on July 26, 2019, at her home.  Calling hours will be Saturday, August 3rd, 10 am- 12 PM, at the funeral home, a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church, Canton, 12:30 PM, burial to follow at St. Henry’s Cemetery, DeKalb Junction.  Lula Mae is survived by her husband, Donald Cook, her  sons, Steven and his wife, Kitty Cook of Massena, Roy Cook of Hermon, daughters, Donna and her husband John Collins of  Russell, Deborah and her husband Vincent Warren of Malone, Vicki and her husband William Riley of  Boston Lake,  a brother, Eugene and his wife Barbara Coller of DeKalb,  a sister, Geraldine Woods of DeKalb, a sister in law, Joyce Coller, Potsdam, 12 grandchildren, 15, great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a son Dennis Cook, a daughter, Christine Cook, brothers, Lucius, James and John Coller. Lula Mae was born on April 23, 1933, in the Town of DeKalb, the daughter of the late, Floyd L. and Wava Caswell Coller.   She married Donald Cook on October 23, 1950 at St. Henry’s Church, Father Parisian officiating.  She devoted her life to her children and the family farm. Lula was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, past parishioner of St. Henry’s Church (where she was in charge of the Easter Breakfast), and she was a past 4H Leader.  She enjoyed crocheting, making afghans, and knitting mittens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or St. Mary’s Church, Canton.

David F. Brassbridge, 70, of DeKalb, died on June 26, 2019, at his home.  As per David’s wishes there will be no services.  David is survived by his husband, Richard Fitzgerald, his son, David F. and his wife Annette Brassbridge II of Swanville, ME, a daughter, Angela and her husband Timothy Donaldson of Hermon, brothers, Lawrence and his wife Charlene Brassbridge, Roger and his wife Shirley Brassbridge, Wayne and his wife Pamela Brassbridge, Kenneth and his wife Gail Brassbridge, Carlton and his wife Millie Brassbridge, Stephen and his wife Dianna Brassbridge, a sister, June Johnson all of Frankfort, ME, grandchildren, James David Brassbridge, Jenna Brassbridge, Julia Brassbridge, Chase Donaldson, Gage Donaldson, Richard Martin and his companion, Tara Richards, great grandchild, Aubree, extended family, Lisa Camidge,  several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by brothers, Robert Brassbridge, and John Young. David was born on April 21, 1949, in Winterport, ME, the son of the late, Lawrence C. and Elmyra I. Young Brassbridge.   He graduated from Searsport High School, the he received a bachelor’s degree from Mater Dei College. A marriage to Carol Lape ended in divorce.  He was a devoted employee of The Arc Jefferson/ St. Lawrence for over 39 years as a director support professional. He also trained athletes for Special Olympics for many years.  David enjoyed, mowing the lawn, going to the casino, doing scratchers, making bonfires, and gardening. Neale D. Hance, 70, of Canton, died on May 9, 2019, at his home.  There will be a celebration of life at a later date.  Neale is survived by his sons, Neale E. Hance of Morley, Robert Hance of Canton, his daughter, Randi Lynne and Quentin Wright of Canton, brothers, David and Judy McMartin, Lawrence and Kathy McMartin, sisters, Ruby and Verde Snyder of Canton, Penny Rutherford, Tammy and David Allen of Lisbon, grandchildren, Logan Hance, Ethan Hance, Bryson Hance, Taylor Hance, Heaven Hance, Latham Rider, several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son Silas Hance, and a brother, Steven Hance. Neale was born on July 5, 1948, in the Town of Canton, the son of the late, Clint Neale and Pauline Hance McMartin. He married Danette A. Hance on February 2, 1980, she died on February 21, 2017.  He was a laborer at Heuvelton Veneer Plant and a roofer at Bellinger’s Roofing in Canton. Neale enjoyed, spending time with his grandchildren, playing the guitar, and tell stories. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made American Lung Association.

Evelyn M. Fiefield, 92, formerly of Richville, died on May 8, 2019, at Highland Nursing Home, Massena.  There will be a graveside service on June 29th, 2019 at 3:00 PM, at Maple Grove Cemetery, there will be a gathering following the burial at the Richville Volunteer Fire Dept..  Evelyn is survived by her son, Dean Simmons of Richville, daughters, Diane and Albert Hull of Richville, Dawn and Tommy MacDonald of Richville, Dinah and Daniel Miller of Churubusco, brothers, Maurice and Gladys Johnson of Hammond, Jason Johnson,  grandchildren, Christopher Simmons, Dean Simmons, Deanna Simmons, Arthur Mac Donald, Lorne Mac Donald, Megan Mac Donald, Dane Miller, several great, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a son Duane Simmons, brothers, Brayton Johnson, Lwellyn Johnson, Dwayne Johnson, Charlie Johnson, sisters, Bertha Rowe, Mabel Petell, Cecilia Johnson, and Lois Johnson. Evelyn was born on September 13, 1926, in Lapeer, Michigan, the daughter of the late, Brayton and Doris Smith Johnson Sr. She married Alfred Simmons on October 15, 1949 in Edwards, he died on October 30, 1989, she then married Lloyd Fiefield on December 19, 1998, he died on January 11, 2003.  She was a chamber maid in Gouverneur and at the Granview in Ogdensburg. Evelyn enjoyed, painting pictures, growing strawberries, traveling, country music and was an avid canner. Joan F. Davis, 79, of Hermon, died on April 23, 2019, at Canton Potsdam Hospital.  There will be no services.  Joan is survived by her sons, Robert Davis of Hermon, Kenneth Davis of Hermon, daughters, Penny Cornell of Hermon, Mellody Davis of Hermon, grandchildren, Melissa Brown, Jessica Bessette, Cody Cardinell, great grandchildren, Brianna Breen, Lila Ann Ladison, Willow Pearl Ladison, several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sons, Scott Davis, John Davis, a brother, Harry Davis and a sister Bonnie Davis.  Joan was born on November 21, 1939, in Lowville, the daughter of the late Robert and Loretta Davis. She married Morris Davis on April 12, 1961 in Niagara Falls, he predeceased her on March 10, 2016. Joan was a waitress at the Cascade Inn in Canton.  She enjoyed playing bingo, poker and going to the casino. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Daniel A. Hagen, 68, of DeKalb Junction, died on April 14, 2019, at Canton Potsdam Hospital. There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday April 19th, 5 – 8 PM at AMVETS Post 11, DeKalb Junction.  Daniel is survived by his son Jeremy and his wife Calely Hagen of Milford, CT, his brothers, Gary and his wife Linda Hagen of Hammond, Donald and his wife Melanie Hagen of Evans Mills, a granddaughter, Zoey Hagen, several nieces and nephews. Dan was born on January 9, 1951, in Watertown, the son of the late, Manford and Mildred Moyer Hagen. Daniel was a millwright machinist at Corning Inc., he retired in 2007. Daniel was a member of the United Steel Workers of America, and AMVETS Post 11. He enjoyed, hunting, riding motorcycles and ATVs. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Lawrence County SPCA.

Carl H. McCready, 80, formerly of Ogdensburg, died on February 18, 2019, at RiverLedge Nursing Home.  Calling hours will be Friday, February 22, 1 – 3 PM, funeral to follow, Reverend Paul Dettmer officiating.  Burial will be Friday, May 10, 2019, 10 am at Fairview Cemetery, Canton. Carl is survived by his sons, Carl Clifford and his wife Pam McCready of Ogdensburg, James Dean McCready and his fiancé Becky Martin of Rensselaer Falls, a daughter, Debbie and her husband Steve Fenton of Heuvelton, grandchildren, Chris McCready, Jamie Bush and Kristy McDougall and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson, Matthew McCready. Carl was born on April 14, 1938, in Ogdensburg, the son of the late, Clifford and Mary Butler McCready. He attended Heuvelton Central School. He married Patricia Gordon, November 29, 1958 the marriage ended in divorce. Carl was a farmer in Rensselaer Falls and DeKalb Junction, he left the area and when he returned he drove a truck for Edson Martin Brewery, worked at Foremost Foods as a machine operator, worked for the Town Of DeKalb, and was a taxi driver for Bartman’s Taxi in Ogdensburg until the late 1990’s. He also owned and operated Carl’s Auto and trucked cattle on the side. He enjoyed, hunting, fishing, working on cars, playing cards and pool, music, dancing, eating popcorn and visiting with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Lawrence County SPCA.

Shirley W. Peterson 02/12/2019

Shirley L. Peterson, 90, formerly of DeKalb Junction, NY and New Haven, CT, died on February 12, 2019, at Highland Nursing Home.  There will be no services, as Shirley was a generous donation to science. Shirley is survived by her daughter Sherrie Revet of Russell, grandchildren, Erin Revet, Justin Revet, Kimberly Revet, Megan Revet, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons, Thomas J. Revet, Mark Revet, brothers, Nelson Wilmot, Albert Wilmot, Russell Wilmot, sisters, Corrina Richards and Dorothy Crosby. Shirley was born on January 21, 1929, in West Haven, CT, the daughter of the late, Nelson and Lucy Maurer Wilmot. She graduated from West Haven High School in 1946. She married Thomas Revet in 1948 that marriage ended in divorce, she then married Glenn Peterson on May 2, 1973, and he died on January 31, 2004. Shirley started her careers in Belding Cordecilli Research Center as a Lab Tech, then sold advertising at the New Haven Register, worked in classifieds at the Danbury News Times, owned the Revet Realty and Insurance in Thompson, CT, and the Peterson’s Country Realty in DeKalb Junction, NY. She was a member of MUFON and loved to collect and sell antiques. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to SUNY Upstate Medical Center research department.
