Jeffrey L. Villeneuve, 64, of DeKalb Junction, died on June 27, 2014, at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Calling hours will be Monday, June 30th, 2014, 1-3 PM at the funeral home, a memorial service will follow at 3 PM with Lay Pastor John Frary officiating. Jeff is survived by his wife Ann Jane, daughters Lynn Frances and husband Christopher Zaidan of Tupper Lake, Anya Louise Villeneuve and Nick Levesque, Tupper Lake, stepsons, Bryan Bush of Arlington, Virginia, Zachariah and wife Rebecca Bush of Norwood, stepdaughter, Sally Bush of Raymondville, a brother, Russell Villeneuve of Tupper Lake, a sister Cathy and her husband James McNamara of Stuart, Florida, 2 grandchildren, Sireea Zaidan and James Zaidan, 4 step grandchildren, 2 nephews and a niece. He was born on September 15, 1949 in Tupper Lake, the son of Raymond “Mammy” and Katherine Burch Villeneuve. He graduated from Tupper Lake High School, he received an AS degree from SUNY Canton, and a BS from SUNY Oswego. He was in the Army from 1970 -1972. Jeff married Ann Bush on April 14, 2004 in Stuart, Florida. He was a logger his entire life. Jeffrey was also a Lieutenant at the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility until his retirement. Jeff was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 11, and loved working in his shop, cooking, hunting, fishing, and being a mentor. Contributions can be made to Hermon Volunteer Rescue Squad.

David F. Cutrie, 57, of Heuvelton, died on June 15, 2014, at Riverledge Health Care. Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 18, 2014, 2 -4 and 7- 9 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service will be in the Hermon Cemetery, Hermon, on July 8, 2014 at 3:30 PM, with military honors, Lay Pastoral Assistant Martha Hellmer, officiating. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie L. Cutrie, a son David F. Cutrie, and companion Tina Wells, of Heuvelton, a daughter, Peggy J. Gilbo, and companion Joe Johnson of Heuvelton, a sister, Mary Ann and husband Ray Gemmill, Ogdensburg, grandchildren, Jaden Hunter Johnson , Jolee Johnson, Felicity Wells, Jedidiah Wells, Jazmyn Wells, Xavior Wells, Baryden Joshua David Mason, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Cutrie and a sister, Jane Cutrie. David was born Ogdensburg the son of Francis and Fern Towne Cutrie. He graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1975 and he was in the US Army from 1984 – 1987. David married Bonnie Peterson on April 17, 1997 in Mobile, Alabama. He was a corrections officer at Riverview Correctional Facility. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. Lois Jean Alguire, 80, of DeKalb, died on May 11, 2014, at Maplewood Health Care. Calling hours will be May 13, 2 – 4 and 6 -8 PM at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be May 14, 10:00 am at St. Raphael,s Church, Heuvelton, Father Kevin O’Brien officiating. Burial will follow at St. Henry’s Cemetery, DeKalb. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Alguire, daughters, Ann (Brian) White, Russell, Lorie (David) Gladle, Edwards, grandchildren, Patrik Morrill, Amanda Hamilton, Leah White, Megan White, April Gladle, Nicholas Gladle, 3 great grandchildren, brothers, Philip Parish, Palm Beach, FL, Neil Parish, Heuvelton, sisters, Barbara Price, Joyce Bice, Sharon Murdock, all of DePeyster, Marilyn Mullin, Gouverneur, many nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathryn Hamilton and a great grandson, Linden McIntosh V. Lois was born in DePeyster, on December 28, 1933, the daughter of Wilbert and Grace Witherell Parish. She graduated from Heuvelton High School in 1951. Lois married Kenneth Alguire on December 15, 1956 at the St. Henry’s Church in DeKalb Junction, Monsignor Thomas Robillard officiating. She was a housewife and had also worked at J. J. Newberry’s and McCadam Cheese Company. Lois enjoyed spending time with her family, baking and decorating cakes. One of her greatest joys was making ginger bread houses and Christmas cookies. Contributions can be made to the Richard Winter Cancer Center.

Herbert L. Tittle, 83, of DeKalb, died on May 8, 2014, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. There will be a Celebration of Life on May 17, 2014, 2:00 PM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Union Cemetery. He is survived by his son, Herbert W. Tittle of South Carolina, Natalie M. Tittle of California, a sister, Lucille Taggart of Glenn Mills, Pennsylvania, a granddaughter, Clarise Tittle of Aston, Pennsylvania, several nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by brothers, George T. Tittle Jr., Clarence Tittle, sisters, Anna Rhyne, Ardelle Walls, Pauline Corbitt, and Eva Draper. Herbert was born in Rocks, Maryland, on November 21, 1930, the son of George T. and Bertha Robinson Tittle. He graduated from West Chester High School; he earned a Bachelor’s degree and Masters Degree in education. He was in the United States Air Force from 1954 – 1958. Herbert married Frances L. Taggart on September 15, 1956, at the 2nd Presbyterian Church in West Chester, Pennsylvania; she predeceased him on September 14, 2012. Herbert taught high school science for many years, before he started farming in DeKalb. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Richard I. Hayes, 77, of Canton, died on April 29, 2014, at Canton Potsdam Hospital. There will be no services. He will be laid to rest in East DeKalb Cemetery. He is survived by his nephew, David Rickett of Hermon. He was predeceased by a brother, Irving Hayes, sisters Marion Hayes Rickett and Vivian Hayes. Richard was born in the Town of DeKalb, on April 15, 1937, the son of Irving and Lillian Elsey Hayes. He graduated from DeKalb High School. Richard worked on the family farm in DeKalb his entire life. He was a past member of the Old DeKalb Grange and the Masonic Lodge Richville Chapter. He enjoyed watching sporting events on television especially NASCAR, playing cards, reading. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Cynthia “Cindy” A. Houghton, 75, of DeKalb Junction, died on April 16, 2014, at her home. The will be a memorial service, April 25, 2014, 11:00 am at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, Lay Pastoral Assistant Martha Helmer, officiating. She is survived by her brothers, David Ellsworth of DeKalb Junction, Edward and his wife Chae Ellsworth of Folsom, California, several stepchildren, three nephews and a great niece. Cynthia was born in Watertown, on April 16, 1939, the daughter of Rae and Gladys Blanchard Ellsworth. She married Ronald A. Houghton he predeceased her in 1998. She worked in the food service industry her whole life. She was a member of the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club, the VFW in Middlebury, Virginia, and the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, horse racing, riding horses, cared and showed dogs and horses. Ronald E. Brown, 67, of DeKalb, died on March 30, 2014, at his home. There will be a celebration of life at his home, 60 Hitchcock Road, DeKalb, on July 12, 2014, 1:00 PM. Ron is survived by his wife, Veronica “Vicki” Brown, a son Matthew and his wife, Erin Brown of DeKalb Junction, daughters, Michelle and her husband Chad Putvain, of Waldon, Vermont, Melinda Abbott of Richville, brothers, David and his wife Susan Brown of Londonderry, Vermont, Michael and his wife Lisa Brown of Londonderry, Vermont, a sister Gail Sherman of Danby, Vermont, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandsons, several nieces and nephews. He was born in Brattleboro, Vermont, on March 13, 1947, the son of Emmitt and Glenna Benson Brown; he graduated from Leland and Gray Seminary in 1966. Ronald married Veronica “Vicki” Eaton on July 24, 1967 in Grafton, Vermont. Ron was in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He owned and operated Ron Brown Builders in Jamaica, Vermont. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and family, helping his neighbors, fixing things, horses and watching Westerns. Rebecca L. Sieradski, 60, of Massena, died on March 3, 2014, at the St. Regis Nursing Home. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 16, 2014, 3:00 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Massena. Becky is survived by her husband Paul of Massena, her father Kenneth Vick of Lakeland, Florida, a son, Andrew and his wife Renee’ Sieradski of Syracuse, a brother, Erik and his wife Roz Vick of Arizona, sisters, Bridget Norregaard of Lakeland, Florida, Gretchen and her husband John Fullerton of Norwood, grandchildren, Carrigan Sieradski, Fallon Sieradski and Bella Sieradski, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Matthew Sieradski. Rebecca was born on November 11, 1953, in Long Beach, California, the daughter of Kenneth and Dawn Anderson Vick. She graduated from Potsdam Central School in 1971 and then attended Bryant & Stratton in Syracuse, earning a business certificate for medical transcriptionist. Becky married Paul C. Sieradski on October 7, 1972 at her parent’s home. She was a receptionist and did cleaning at Dr. Gupta’s office in Massena. Rebecca was a member of the Jehovah Witness Massena Congregation. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She enjoyed gardening and reading. Rose D. Lusas, 98, of Canton, died on February 13, 2014 at Maplewood Nursing Home. She is survived by her sons, George and his wife Ruth Crowley of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Ronald and his wife Sharon York of Florida, Thomas and his wife Margaret Crowley of Connecticut, a daughter, Constance Crowley of Connecticut,seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Rose was born in Monroe,New York on August 16, 1915. She was predeceased by her husband George Crowley in 1956 and her husband Edmond Lusas. She was in the Navy during WWII. Rose was an aide at numerous nursing homes over the course of her career. She loved cooking, going out to dinner, getting her hair done and above all seeing her family. Wayne is survived by his wife Patricia “Patty”, a son, Wayne E. Hurlburt Jr., of Owego, daughters, Bonnie and husband Timothy Maslin, of Owego, Brittney J. Hurlburt, of Lisbon, stepchildren, Tirza Swan of Arizona, Joseph and Darci Bouchard of Galesburg, Illinois, Joshua and Amanda Bouchard of Wisconsin, Karetha and Erik Strand of Fort Myers, Florida, brothers, Arthur and wife Rose Hurlburt of Berkshire, Elwin and Anna May Hurlburt of Kanapolis, North Carolina, a sister, Audrey O’Bryan and her fiancé Humphrey Crawley of Cheraw, South Carolina, 16 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was born on January 1, 1952 in Cortland, New York, the son of Arthur and Vivian Ingraham Hurlburt Wayne graduated from high school in Owego, New York in 1970, and then married Verna Sweeney in 1971, she predeceased him. He married Patricia Adkins on July 17, 2010 in Lisbon. Wayne owned and operated Hurlburt Construction in Ogdensburg, and previous to that he was a tool and die maker for Bendix Corp. and Switzer Aircraft. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous where he was a legend, helping other people. He loved his animals, farming, constructing buildings, gardening, and restoring things.
