Vickie M. Morse

Vickie M. Morse, 71, of Canton, died, February 14, 2022 at her home. Services for Vickie will be private. There will be a graveside service on May 22, 2024, 11:30 am at Cook’s Corner Cemetery, Pierrepont. Vickie is survived by her daughter, Kelly and her husband James Mandigo of Vermont, her son, Perry Masters of Ogdensburg, a brother William and his wife Candie Morse of Gouverneur, grandchildren, Tyran Mandigo, Christopher Laddison, Kyle Perry, Patrick Rockhill, Braiden Rockhill, adopted grandchildren, Noah Marckres and Gabrielle Marckres, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Morse, Sandra Hynes and her common law husband, Richard Sanford.  Vickie was born September 23, 1950, in Gouverneur to the late, Gerald and Mary Mattison Morse. Vickie worked as clerk at the General Store in DePeyster, and Ames. She helped manage her husband’s business, Sanford Inc. in Colton, for many years. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching mystery shows, online games, Facebook and watching Tic Toc.  The joy of her life was her grandson, Tyran. Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.  Vickie’s family would like to thank Dr. Anghel and Dr. Lee for the wonderful care of their mom.

Ronald C. Stevens., 63, of Hermon, died, February 5, 2022 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center. There will calling hours at the funeral home, February 19, 2022, 12 -2 PM, masks are required and all COVID protocols will be in effect. Ronald is survived by his wife, Margaret, daughters, Linda Stevens and her significant other Matthew Martin of Hermon, Tina and her husband Steven House of Russell, his brothers, Dale Stevens of Lisbon, Eugene Stevens of Heuvelton, a sister, Dorothy Stevens of Heuvelton, 5 grandchildren, Logan Stevens, Joey Payne, Dartagnan House, Aiden Chase, and Tyler Bush, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Jenny Bush, and a granddaughter, Serena Stevens.  Ron was born November 21, 1958, in Ogdensburg to the late, Charles and Pauline Howes Stevens. He graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1978.  He married Margaret Hogg in July 1981 in Florida.  Ron worked as a fuel deliveryman for Philly Fuels in Philadelphia, for many years. He loved spending time with his family, riding motorcycles, and driving muscle cars.  He played Santa at day care centers or for anyone who wanted to take a picture with him. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to charity of one’s choice.

Muriel Patton., 87, of Hermon, died, January 22, 2022 at her home. There will be a private graveside service in the spring, at Fairview Cemetery. Muriel is survived by her sons, John Patton of Colorado, Arthur and his wife Kimberly Patton of Oswego, daughters, Debra and her husband Scott Bennett of DeKalb Junction, Cathy and her husband Neil Thomas of Pierrepont, Sandra and her husband William Russell of Canton, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased her husband James, a brother Melbourne Aldous, and a sister Grace (Aldous) Bowles.  Muriel was born February 13, 1934 in Madrid to the late, Jacob Claude and Ethel Crary Aldous. Muriel graduated from DeKalb High School in 1952.  She married James A. Patton on December 29, 1953 at the Gouverneur Methodist Church, Reverend Robert Woods officiating, he died on August 21, 2004.  She worked as an operator for New York Telephone in Gouverneur from 1952-1960, in 1975 she and her husband opened and operated Patton’s TV in Hermon until the 1980’s.   Muriel was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars Chapter 108 and the Hermon United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed garage sales, the casino, and crocheting. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Hermon Rescue Squad, 1651 CR 21, Hermon, New York,13652, Canton Rescue Squad, Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or the animal shelter of one’s choice.

Clarridge D. Grant., 94, of DeKalb Junction, died, January 18, 2022 at his home. There will be a graveside service on May 21, 2022 at 1:00 PM with military honors at Hermon Cemetery, Pastor Joseph Weidler officiating . Don is survived by his sons, Thomas and his wife Emily Grant, of Rensselaer Falls, Bruce and his wife Bonnie Grant, of DeKalb Junction, his daughter, Kitty and her husband Steven Cook, of Massena, 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Anna, a son, Steven Grant, a great grandson Grant Woodrow, brothers, Phillip and Richard Grant, and a sister, Harriet Gary.  Clarridge was born July 21, 1927 in Potsdam to the late, Glenn and Elsie Curtis Grant. He married Anna Thomas on July 21,1948 at the United Methodist Church, Colton, she died on October 4, 2020.  Don was in the Army during WWII, where he earned an Army of Occupation Medal and a WWII Victory Medal.  He worked for National Grid first as a line foreman, then in 1966 he became the supervisor in Hermon until his retirement in 1976.  Don was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting.  He was a member of the AMVETS Post 11, Gouverneur Elks Club, Hannawa Falls Fire Department, Emerald Greens, Canton Country Club, and a life member of the DAV. He had been a Town of Hermon Councilman. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Canton United Helpers Nursing Home.

David A. Brown Jr., 50, of Richville, died, January 15, 2022 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. There will be calling hours Friday, January 21, 2022, 3-6 PM at the funeral home, a funeral service will be on Saturday, January 22, 2022, 11:00 am, at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. The family respectfully requests that all visitors please wear a mask and follow all COVID -19 procedures.  For the protection of the immunocompromised family members, the family also requests that if you are sick that you leave a condolence or remembrance on the funeral home webpage in lieu of attending.  David is survived by his wife Barbara, sons, Eric Brown of Richville, Connor Brown of Richville, daughter, Jacklyn Morris of Arizona, his father, David A. Brown Sr. of DeKalb, brothers, Kevin Brown of DeKalb Junction, Danny Brown of Harrisville, Jason Brown of DeKalb, Frederick “Rick” Jones of Oswego, Richard and his wife Nicky Ward of Hermon, Donald and Robin Ward of Clare, sisters, Debbie Weller of Richville, Lisa Brown of DeKalb Junction, Lori and her husband John Kingrey of Pyrites, grandchildren, Akira Richardson, Robin Richardson, Salem Caraveo, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and step father, Shirley and Lawrence Jones, his stepmother Diane Brown and his sister Karen Carr.  David was born on February 10, 1971 in Gouverneur, to David and Shirley Aldridge Brown. He married Barbara Perrin on September 18, 2004 at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church. David, worked as a laborer for Whitton Construction LLC in Gouverneur, prior to that had worked for other construction companies in the area including RSI, when he was younger, he worked at Acco Brands in Ogdensburg as a night watchman.  Boozer enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and his hobby farm.  He loved being with his family and friends. Terryl L. Chase, 78, of DeKalb Junction, died on January 9, 2022. There will be a graveside service May 14, 2022, 11:00am at the East DeKalb Cemetery, DeKalb Junction, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. Terryl is survived by her son, Ricky L. and his wife Kristie Chase of Ellsinore, Missouri, daughters, Bonnie and her husband Stuart Law of Hermon, Teresa and her husband Jim Clary of Russell, grandchildren, Heather Chase, Ethan and his wife Makenzie Chase, Josie Chase, Wyatt Chase, Erin Escablos, and Christopher Clary, several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Jack Bishop.  Terryl was born on July 15,1943 in Potsdam, to the late, Lindon and Allison Smith Bishop. She graduated from Hermon DeKalb Central School in 1962. She married Lyle Chase on September 27, 1962 at her mother’s home, he died in 1986.  Terryl was a cleaner at St. Lawrence University until her retirement in 2005.  She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department.  Terryl enjoyed reading, knitting mittens, listening to Willy’s Roadhouse and scratch tickets. She loved the sunshine and her cats. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Ogdensburg SPCA.

Geraldine M. Blair, 96, of Hermon, died on January 8, 2022, at her home. There will be a graveside service in the spring at St. James Cemetery, Gouverneur. Geraldine is survived by her daughters, Elaine and her husband Robert Larry of West Henrietta, Mary and her husband Wayne Hendricks of DeKalb Junction, Susan and her husband Larry Moore of Richville, Dawn and her husband Edward Slayko of DeKalb Junction, her sister, Marlene Vrooman of Gouverneur, 13 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her sons, Leslie Davis in 2014, an infant son Lawrence Davis, a grandson, Jim Davis, her brothers, Lawrence Harvey and John Harvey, and a son in law, Steve Jenkins.  Geraldine was born on February 9, 1925 in Carthage, to the late, Lawrence and Emma Castle Harvey.  Geraldine married Elmer “Ike” Davis on January 30, 1945 at the St. James Church rectory by Father Frederick Shue, he died on June 26, 1963.  Geraldine was an operator for New York Telephone in Gouverneur before she went to work as a ward clerk at E.J. Noble Hospital and Kinney Nursing Home in Gouverneur, she retired in 1975.  She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 6338, Gouverneur, and a parishioner at the St. James Catholic Church in Gouverneur.  Geraldine enjoyed watching soap operas, reading and bowling. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Paul R. Reed, 92, of Richville, died, December 23, 2021, at his home. A graveside service will be December 29, 2021, 11:00 am at Maple Grove Cemetery, Richville, Pastor David Hart officiating.  Paul is survived by his sons Dorwin and wife Pamela Gore of Gouverneur, Richard and his wife Colleen Reed of Gouverneur, Roger and his wife Donna Reed of Canton, daughter, Amy Jo and her husband Michael Weil of Canton,  grandchildren, Jamie Salvatore and her companion Corey Clarke, Alexander and his companion, Jacklynne Durham, T.J. Gore and his companion Paige Bango, Bethany Gore, Christopher Reed, Jason Reed, Travis and his wife Leslie Reed, Ashley and her husband Curtis Constance, and Connor Reed, great grandchildren, Henry Gore, Jordan Reed, Taya Constance, Lia Constance and Holden DeShane. He was predeceased by a brother Ross Reed. Paul was born on October 30,1929, in Syracuse, the son of the late Arlie F. and Marjorie J. Gray Reed. He married Reta Durant on February 6, 1961, she predeceased him on January 13, 2015.  Paul retired in 1987 as the supervisor for NY State DOT, Hailesboro, after his retirement he was the clerk of the works for Marble City Affordable Housing, Gouverneur. Paul owned and operated Reed’s Market in Richville, from 1946 – 1961.  Paul was the former President and board member of the Maple Grove Cemetery, was a past chief and member of the Richville Fire Department and was a member of the Spruce Mountain Hunting Club.  He loved to hunt and fish. Brenda S. Bacon, 54, of DeKalb Junction, died, December 22, 2021. There are no services at this time.  Brenda is survived by her husband Brian, son Ethan Bacon of DeKalb Junction, daughter, Alyssa and her husband Andrew Baxter of Canton, her mother, Sandra Taylor of Jamestown, siblings, Robert Taylor of Florida, Tammy Taylor of Busti, half siblings, Johnny Caruso of North Carolina, Robin and her husband Barry Pfaff of Pennsylvania, grandchildren, Dominic Baxter and Alessandra Baxter, her in-laws Bruce and Maxine Bacon of Richville, several nieces and nephews.  Brenda was born on November 10,1967, in Jamestown, New York, the daughter of John and Sandra Waite Taylor.    She married Brian Bacon on January 17,1988 in Olmstead, Florida. Brenda earned an AS degree and a BS degree in information technology from SUNY Canton, she graduated with honors, then earned a Masters’ degree in Security Management from Bellevue University.  She started her career at Mercy Hospital, then at Corning Glass, General Dynamics and SAIC on Fort Drum until 2012, she was a computer network administrator.  She was a member of Chi Epsilon Honor Society. Brenda loved her family, her dogs and Dominic.  She enjoyed gardening, horses, animals and painting.  Her last project was with her son Ethan, they lettered and painted a new sign for the family business. Gwenllian Ann Taylor, 88, of Rensselaer Falls, died, December 12, 2021. A graveside service will be December 22, 2021, 11:00 am at Jerusalem Cemetery, Canton, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating.  Gwen is survived by her brother, William Taylor, DeKalb Junction, nieces, Sandra and her husband Andrew Morrison of DeKalb Junction, Suzanne Kane of Orlando, FL, great nieces, Stacy and her husband Josh Morrison, Andrea Morrison, Kristin and Robert Allender, a great nephew, Devon and his wife Melissa Kane, 4 great great nieces and 1 great great nephew.  She was predeceased by her brother Daniel Taylor and a niece Mary Ellen Taylor.   Gwenllian was born October 18, 1933, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of the late Donald and Luella Lobdell Taylor.  Gwen was a mail sorter at the ARC in Canton, NY. Gwen loved her cats. She enjoyed washing dishes and shopping. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Cancer Society.
