Carl J. Brunet, 87, formally of Hermon, died on February 21, 2015 at Maplewood Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.  A graveside service will be on July 18, 2015, 11 am at St. Henry’s Cemetery, Father Stephen Rocker officiating,  a luncheon will follow the service at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, a daughter Carolyn and her husband Lloyd (Butch) Hadden of Winter Haven, Florida, sons, Randy and his wife Vicki Brunet of Edwards, Ritchie Brunet of Hermon, a sister Alida Doud of Fairport, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Carl was born on April 27, 1927 in Hermon, the son of Joseph H. and Pauline I. Baker Brunet Jr. He graduated from Hermon High School in 1945. Carl married Elaine J. Barr on November 5, 1949 at St. James Church Rectory, Gouverneur, Father Divine officiating. He ran a milk route and other hauling which was purchased in 1948, went to work for Town Highway Department in Hermon, spring 1951. Fall of November, 1951 he purchased farm and drove school bus for Hermon District. He worked for the County Department and was an Assessor for the Town of Hermon for five years. Carl worked part time for Roger McBath at Robinson’s Farm Equipment of Canton before 1979. He was a truck driver and did machinery set up for Dragroon Equipment in Canton until his retirement in 1992. Carl was a member of St. Henry’s Church and St. James Church. He loved dancing, reading the newspaper, farming, tinkering in his shop and being busy. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Cyrus W. Weller, 89, of DeKalb Junction, died on January 31, at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Calling hours will be February 3rd, 11 AM – 2 PM, a funeral service will be at 2 PM, Pastor Pedro Morales officiating. Burial will be in Morley Cemetery, Morley on June 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM. He is survived by his children, Ricky Weller of Clearwater, Texas, Michael Weller of Rensselaer Falls, Ronald Church of Ohio, Joseph Weller of Richville, Donna Merithew of Houston, Texas, Karen and her husband Raymond Austin of Fine, Deborah Waugh of Thomasville, North Carolina, Kathy and her husband Tim Gillespie of Stafford, Kimberly Weller of Watertown, Pamela Hendrick of Richfield Springs, 25 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Chris Weller, daughters, Cyra Jean Weller, Christina Weller, Mary Weller and siblings, Harry, Henry, Sherman, George, Viola and Laura Bullock and Warren Weller. Cyrus was born on February 21, 1925 in Hopkinton, New York, the son of Warren and Eva Brown Weller. He was in the United States Navy from 1944 -1946, while in the Navy he served on an attack transport, USS Menard which was part of the “Magic Carpet Fleet” in Pearl Harbor. He married Eudora Northup on November 11, 1943 at the Morley Methodist Church, she predeceased him on February 21, 1963, he then married Donna McCollum in October of 1965, and she predeceased him in 1984. Cy was a steel fabricator at St. Joseph’s Zinc Mine in Pierrepont for 38 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a past volunteer fireman at the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department, and was a founding member of the Morley Volunteer Fire Department. Cy enjoyed restoring automobiles, logging, hunting and fishing. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to AMVETS Post 11, DeKalb Junction, New York, 13630.

Claude M. Livingston, 73, of DeKalb Junction died on December 23, 2014, at Canton Potsdam Hospital. There will be no services. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte R., daughters, Lori and her husband Dan Gilbert of Edwardsville, Lisa and her husband Lyle Bishop of Fowler, a brother Gary and his wife Betty Livingston, DeKalb Junction, sisters, Judith and her husband Edward Dubrule of Richville, Betty Jones of St. Augustine, Florida, grandchildren, Eugene Bishop and Connor Bishop, several nieces and nephews. Claude was born on October 19, 1941 in Ogdensburg, New York, the son of Earl and Norma Jean Simms Livingston. He married Charlotte Fuller on October 26, 1962 at the Gouverneur Methodist Church, Reverend Stanley Brown officiating. He was a farmer on the family farm from 1957 – 1992. He enjoyed draft horses, tractor pulling, hunting and fishing. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Foundation.

Cynthia “Cindy” A. Houghton, 75, of DeKalb Junction, died on April 16, 2014, at her home. The will be a memorial service, April 25, 2014, 11:00 am at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, Lay Pastoral Assistant Martha Helmer, officiating. She is survived by her brothers, David Ellsworth of DeKalb Junction, Edward and his wife Chae Ellsworth of Folsom, California, several stepchildren, three nephews and a great niece. Cynthia was born in Watertown, on April 16, 1939, the daughter of Rae and Gladys Blanchard Ellsworth. She married Ronald A. Houghton he predeceased her in 1998. She worked in the food service industry her whole life. She was a member of the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club, the VFW in Middlebury, Virginia, and the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, horse racing, riding horses, cared and showed dogs and horses. Curtis H. Conklin, 92, of Gouverneur, died on December 20, 2013, at his home. Curt is survived by his wife Beverly (Jenning), sons, Edward and his wife Ruth Conklin of East DeKalb, Norman Conklin of Watertown, daughters, Vickie Comacho of Arizona, Cheryl and her husband Carl Clark of Harrisville, stepdaughter Christine and her husband Richard Matthews of Clayton, 15 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a stepson Danford Thornton, brothers Charles Conklin, Grafton Conklin, sisters, Fern Thompson, Elva Pelkofski, Doris Bowman, Ellebell Stuhldreher, Eva Cunningham, and a half sister, Edith Denesha. He was born on September 9, 1921, in the Town of DeKalb, the son of Rosco and Vida Holland Conklin. He married Isabelle Hall which ended in divorce; he then married Beverly Thornton on May 16, 1964 at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church with the Reverend Best officiating. Curtis was a mental therapy aide at Marcy Psychiatric Center for 10 years, until his retirement in 1976, prior to that he farmed on the Maple Ridge Road for 40 years. Curt was a member of the Elks Lodge in Gouverneur, and the Moose Lodge in Utica. He loved going to the casino, hobby farming, animals, playing cards and family gatherings. Cedric Kirkpatrick died April 15th, 2013 at the Canton Potsdam Hospital. Cedric was a long time resident of Hermon, New York. A graveside service will be May 25, 2013, 11:00 am at the Spragueville Cemetery, Spragueville, Lay Pastoral Assistant Martha Helmer officiating, a gathering will be at 1:00 PM at the family farm, 1912 CR 21, Hermon. He was born in Spragueville, New York on December 15, 1936, the son of Ida and Percy Kirkpatrick. Cedric attended Hermon School and graduated in 1954. He ran and operated the family farm in Hermon, providing for his family and friends. Cedric was one of seven children. He was predeceased by; Harold, Muriel, Bernice and Earl. He is survived by his sisters Eunice, residing in Sonora California and Eleanor in Russell, New York and several nieces and nephews. After he closed down the family farm, Cedric worked at the Hermon Cemetery from 1995-2005. He was the consummate unselfish man, he provided for his family, putting his goals and dreams aside to make sure that everyone who needed shelter and friendship were provided for. Cedric will be missed by family and friends. Everyone who came into contact with him will forever remember his gentle demeanor and his kind and quiet generosity. Gifts can be made to the Hermon Fire Hall and the Hermon Cemetery in his memory.

Clara Faye Putman, 94, of Hermon, died, February 26, 2013, at her home. Calling hours will be, Friday, March 1, 1 -3 and 6- 8 PM, the funeral service will be at 8 PM, Lay Pastoral Assistant Martha Helmer officiating. Burial will be May 4, 2013 at 10:00 am at Hermon Cemetery, Hermon. Faye is survived by a son, John Putman of Canton, daughters, Diana Putman, Hermon, Patricia Wilson, Hermon, Bonnie and her husband Lee Cox, Willow Street, PA, 11 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Onita Boyden and granddaughters, Deborah Lynn Silva and Denise Louise Sharkey. Faye was born on November 22, 1918 in the Town of Edwards, the daughter of Dale and Edithel Rose Miller. She graduated from Edwards School and then attended nursing school in Syracuse. Faye married Merrill M. Putman on May 20, 1939 at the Baptist Parsonage in Gouverneur.  She was the postmistress at the Russell Post Office and retired in 1983 after 20+ years of service. Faye was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Edwards, and the Hermon Baptist Church, where she was very active, including teaching Sunday school. She loved gardening, painting, bead making, making quilts, sewing, doing any kind of crafts, fishing, camping, hunting and cooking. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Clarence J. Forbes, 67, of DeKalb Junction, died, November 30, 2012, at his home. Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 5, 2012, 2- 4, and 7-9 PM, at the funeral home. The funeral service will be, at the funeral home, Saturday, December 8, 2012, 1:00PM, Reverend William Scott officiating.  Burial will be in East DeKalb Cemetery. Clarence is survived by his daughter Sharon and husband Thomas Raynor, Gore, Virginia, sons, William and wife Susan Gammer Forbes, of DeKalb Junction, Richard J. Forbes, Syracuse, eight grandchildren, R.J. Forbes, Josh Forbes, Will Forbes, Justin Forbes, Amanda Forbes, Tiffany Forbes, Brittany Forbes and Thomas Raynor, 11 great grandchildren, sisters, Carol Taylor, Canastota, Virginia Halladay, Canastota, Alice and her husband Jim Kench, Florida, Jenny Billings, Shirley and her husband Cliff Perrin, Canada, Betty Craig, Canada, and Olive Cook, Russell, several nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Charles and Bill Forbes, and a sister, Louise Forbes. Clarence was born on May 25, 1945 in Ogdensburg, the son of Nelson Charles and Bernice Regina Durham Forbes. He married Valery B. Bishop, on October 17, 1966 at the Russell Pilgrim Holiness Church, the Reverend Case officiating, Valery died on July 12, 2004. Clarence was a self employed small commercial hauler and previous to that he worked for St. Lawrence NYSARC as a mechanic and driver. He was a member of the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department and held the position of Second Assistant Chief in the past, he was also a member of the St. Lawrence County Fire Police, Sons of Amvets Post 11, Canton VFW, and was Honorary Fireman of the Year in 1993.
