Sharon RW Norback, 77, of Russell, died on September 23, 2022, at her home. Sharon was a generous donation to science. She is survived by her sons Eric Norback of Hermon, David and his wife Samantha Norback of Russell, daughters, Kristin and her husband David Jackson of Virginia, Candace and her husband David Mannel of Connecticut, and seven grandchildren.  Sharon was born on January 27,1945 in Waterbury, Connecticut to the late, Frank Walter and Ruth Elizabeth Beardsley Wilson. She was a certified nursing assistant and job coach for the developmental and physically challenged at Meriden Wallingford Society for the Handicapped Inc. in Wallingford, Connecticut.  Sharon was a member and treasurer of the Southington Genealogical Society in Southington, Connecticut In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Amazing Grace Fellowship, 967 Yale Avenue, Wallingford, Connecticut, 06492.

Shirley R. Gray, 92 of Massena and formerly of Canton, died on May 16,2022 at Massena Hospital. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Deborah Gray of New York City, NY, Denise Gray of La Jolla, CA, “several nieces and nephews, and many grand- and great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Doreen Rotundo, Eva Mousaw and Grace Cinanni, and her brother Roy Red Paro. She was born on July 9,1929 to the late Roy and Alice Sharpstene Paro.  Shirley married R. Vernon Gray on December 20,1948, he predeceased her in 1965.  She graduated from Canton High School and also graduated from Ogdensburg Business School. Early in her career she worked as an operator for New York Telephone in Potsdam and then was a clerk for St. Lawrence County until her retirement in 1994. Shirley was a member of CSEA, and the Ackwesasne Senior Citizen Club.  She loved to play piano, make jig saw puzzles, exercise and going out to lunch with her friends.   Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Stephen W. Luther Jr., 47, of Hermon, died, May 12, 2022 at his home. There will be a Celebration of Life on May 21, 2022 at 1:00 PM, at 457 Lazy River Road, Hermon, New York (Stephen’s home). Stephen is survived by his mother, Vickie Luther and her life partner John Holly of Harrisville, his life partner Jennifer Soper, daughters, Bailey Luther, Alexa Luther, Kaitlyn Luther, Abbigail Luther, Emmah Luther, a son Kaden Luther, a sister Anita Fenlong of DeKalb Junction, a granddaughter, Amelia Stephen Luther, a nephew Dustin and his wife Jessa Fenlong of Hermon, a niece, Kayna and her husband Caleb House of DeKalb Junction. He was predeceased by his father Stephen W. Luther and his son, Stephen W. Luther III.  He was born on November 26, 1974 to Stephen and Vickie Roy Luther.  He attended National Tractor Trailer School. He worked for Grasse River Asphalt in Russell as a truck driver. He enjoyed playing shuffle board and pool.  He raced drag cars in Cicero, NY with his dad.  He was an avid family man.   Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Hermon Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad.

Shirley L. Peterson, 90, formerly of DeKalb Junction, NY and New Haven, CT, died on February 12, 2019, at Highland Nursing Home.  There will be no services, as Shirley was a generous donation to science. Shirley is survived by her daughter Sherrie Revet of Russell, grandchildren, Erin Revet, Justin Revet, Kimberly Revet, Megan Revet, 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons, Thomas J. Revet, Mark Revet, brothers, Nelson Wilmot, Albert Wilmot, Russell Wilmot, sisters, Corrina Richards and Dorothy Crosby. Shirley was born on January 21, 1929, in West Haven, CT, the daughter of the late, Nelson and Lucy Maurer Wilmot. She graduated from West Haven High School in 1946. She married Thomas Revet in 1948 that marriage ended in divorce, she then married Glenn Peterson on May 2, 1973, and he died on January 31, 2004. Shirley started her careers in Belding Cordecilli Research Center as a Lab Tech, then sold advertising at the New Haven Register, worked in classifieds at the Danbury News Times, owned the Revet Realty and Insurance in Thompson, CT, and the Peterson’s Country Realty in DeKalb Junction, NY. She was a member of MUFON and loved to collect and sell antiques. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to SUNY Upstate Medical Center research department.

Sandra L. LaClair, 74, of Brasher Falls, died on April 13, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family. There will be no services, Sandra was a generous donation to science. Sandra is survived by her husband, Vincent LaClair, her daughters, Sonja and her husband Paul Johnston of Waddington, Laurene Sicurella of Pittsfield, MA, her siblings, Ward B. Shorette, Jr. of Brasher, Shirley Aigen of Massena, Laura and Larry Phippen of Brasher, 3 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Sandra was born on July 6, 1943, in Potsdam, New York, the daughter of the late Ward and Lorraine Dennis Shorette. She married Vincent in 1961 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was a cafeteria worker for 40 years at SUNY Potsdam. She loved, knitting, hunting, fishing, and target shooting with handguns, she was also a member of the American Legion. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Stewart Dewey, 68, formerly of Plattsburgh, died on February 10, 2018, at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital, Plattsburgh. There will be a graveside service June 9, 2018, 1 PM at Hermon Cemetery. He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Dewey, TN, his sister Eileen and her husband James Farrow of Clarksville, Tennessee, his brother, Dwight “Ike” and his wife Marilyn Dewey of Golden Meadow, Louisiana, several nieces and nephews. Stewart was born on October 19, 1949, in Plattsburgh, New York, the son of Herbert and Eleanor Hamilton Dewey. He graduated from Saranac High School, Saranac Lake, NY. He married Carol Thompson in Morrisonville, NY, she predeceased him on September 9, 2014. He was a lab tech for Ayerst Laboratory in Rouses Point, New York. Stewart enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoor activities. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

She is survived by her husband Lawrence Jones, sons, Kevin and his wife Georgette Brown of DeKalb Junction, Danny Brown of Harrisville, David and his wife Barbara Brown Jr. of Richville, daughters, Debbie Weller of Richville, Lisa Brown of DeKalb Junction, stepson, Frederick “Rick” Jones of Oswego, brothers, Carl and his wife Isabelle Matice of Canton, Ivan and his wife Sharon Matice of Gouverneur, sisters, Rose and her husband Donald Fifield of Hermon, Christine Reynolds of Okeechobee, FL, 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Karen Carr, siblings, Arnold Aldridge Sr., Allen Aldridge,Webb “Butch” Matice, Alvin Matice, Norma Dusharm, Susan Dashnaw, granddaughter, Amy Carr, great grandson Edward Delorme. Shirley was born on July 28, 1944 in Gouverneur, the daughter of the late Arnold and Fern Fields Aldridge. A marriage to David Brown Sr. ended in divorce, she married Lawrence “Larry” Jones on Mary 27, 2000 at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church. Shirley was a custodian at Hermon DeKalb Central School for 24 years. She was a member of the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church and loved spending time with her family, her camp at Lake Bonaparte, fishing and shopping. There will be a family gathering at his home, 2665 SH 812, on Friday, May 10th, 6 -8 PM and Saturday, May 11th , 10am – 2 PM. Steven is survived by his wife, Joy, daughters, Erica M. and husband Dale Avery, Kernersville, NC, Carrie A. and husband Gary Taylor, Canastota, Amber L. and husband Shane Carr, Gouverneur, Danielle (Danny) and husband Chester Soto, Canastota, grandchildren, Aiden Coller, Brody Carr, Holly Carr, Christian Soto and his cat Sissy “Little Princess”. Steven was born in Gouverneur, February 1, 1958. He married Joy E. Gaumes on August 15, 1981 in DeKalb, Justice of the Peace Glenn Minnick officiating. Steven was a bagger man at Heuvelton Whey and did construction and roofing. He loved being with his family and friends, fishing, hunting big and small game, being outdoors, having BBQs and watching the Young and the Restless. Donations can be made to the Richard Winter Cancer Treatment Center.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Kane and companion George Britt, Uniontown, PA, Sandra and husband Andrew Morrison, DeKalb, a brother, Herbert Stacy, Lowville, a sister Helen Stacy, Gouverneur, grandchildren, Kristin and her husband Robert Allender, Devon Kane, Andrea Morrison, Stacy Morrison, a brother in-law Bill Taylor, DeKalb, a sister in-law Gwen Taylor, Gouverneur, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ellen Taylor, a brother Harold Stacy, and a sister, Marion Davis. Shirley was born on February 7, 1935 in Gouverneur, the daughter of Robert and Gartha Stevens Stacy. She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1954. Shirley married Daniel S. Taylor on July 31, 1954 at the Gouverneur Presbyterian Church, Rev. Andrew Schofield officiating, Dan died on March 23, 2010. Shirley was a food service worker at Canton Central School for over 17 years, she retired in 2006. She was a member, Sunday school teacher and on the Sunshine 2001, she was a 4H leader and judged sewing, a member of the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club, Canton Senior Citizen Club, and The Friday Girls. She loved to knit, sew and her cats. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley or the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church.

Cronk and fiancé Mary Roper, Buffalo Gap, TX, Wayne R. Cronk and his wife Michelle, Rensselaer Falls, step sister, Misty Turner, OK, nephews, Wayne R. Cronk, Jr., Damien Cronk, and Cleston Cronk. He was born on December 12, 1973 in Gouverneur. Scott loved his dogs, his home, building guns, being on his tractor, and outdoors. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Lawrence Valley SPCA.
