Shirley A. Jones, 72, of DeKalb Junction, died on August 5, 2016. Calling hours will be at the funeral home, Monday, August 8th, 2 -4 and 7 – 9 PM. The funeral service will be at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, Tuesday, August 9th, 11 am, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating, burial to follow in Hermon Cemetery. She is survived by her husband Lawrence Jones, sons, Kevin and his wife Georgette Brown of DeKalb Junction, Danny Brown of Harrisville, David and his wife Barbara Brown Jr. of Richville, daughters, Debbie Weller of Richville, Lisa Brown of DeKalb Junction, stepson, Frederick “Rick” Jones of Oswego, brothers, Carl and his wife Isabelle Matice of Canton, Ivan and his wife Sharon Matice of Gouverneur, sisters, Rose and her husband Donald Fifield of Hermon, Christine Reynolds of Okeechobee, FL, 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Karen Carr, siblings, Arnold Aldridge Sr., Allen Aldridge,Webb “Butch” Matice, Alvin Matice, Norma Dusharm, Susan Dashnaw, granddaughter, Amy Carr, great grandson Edward Delorme. Shirley was born on July 28, 1944 in Gouverneur, the daughter of the late Arnold and Fern Fields Aldridge. A marriage to David Brown Sr. ended in divorce, she married Lawrence “Larry” Jones on Mary 27, 2000 at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church. Shirley was a custodian at Hermon DeKalb Central School for 24 years. She was a member of the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church and loved spending time with her family, her camp at Lake Bonaparte, fishing and shopping. She is survived by her husband James F., sons, Theodore and his wife Doris Rubin of, Kathleen, Florida, Shawn Albert and his wife Tina Rubin of DeKalb Junction, half siblings, Roger Delorme of Texas, Dorcus and her husband Rusty Lottie of DeKalb Junction, Danette and her husband Neil Hance of Rensselaer Falls, Marsha Delorme of Texas, Pamela Delorme of Texas, Michelle (and her husband Wayne Cronk of Rensselaer Falls, a sister in law Kim Delorme, special friend Jordan Roth, grandchildren, Allison Inez Goldie, Della Rae Rubin, Cassidy Rubin, James Phelps, Dylan Kelley, Shawn Patrick Rubin, Harley Nicole Rubin, Natasha Petrie, great grandchildren, Hunter, Damon, Kamon, Virginia, Brooklyn, Cameron, Elizabeth Izabell, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Albert and Dorothy Dafoe (who raised her), brothers, Albert Delorme and Edward Delorme, a sister, Hope Delorme, half siblings, Edward H. Delorme, Randy Delorme Sr., and Rodney Delorme. Mary was born on October 31, 1951 in the Canton, the daughter of the late Edward J. and Alice Dafoe Delorme Sr. She married James Mussen on October 22, 1990 at 9 PM at the home of Reverends William and Betty Masters. She graduated from Canton Central School in 1969 and worked as a chief clerk for the Department of Social Services for 21 years (was in charge of converting all files from paper to computer), retiring in 2009. Mary was a past member of the Pyrites Ladies Auxiliary and loved to read, play games on her computer and play cards. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Lee W. Donaldson, 67, of Canton, died on April 6, 2016 at Canton Potsdam Hospital. There will be memorial service at a later date. He is survived by his wife, Catherine, a son, Aaron Donaldson of Massena, daughters, Leeann Donaldson at home, Susie Thompson of Massena, Amanda Robinson of Massena, Nichole and her husband Antron Faulk of Massena, brothers, Leslie and his wife Linda Donaldson of DeKalb Junction, Larry and Diane Donaldson of Canton, a sister, Leola Fredette of Canton, 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Ellie Lemieux, grandchildren, Ryan Lemieux, and Christian Donaldson. Lee was born on December 31, 1948 in the Town of Canton, the son of the late Leslie and Helen Blair Donaldson. He married Catherine Barney in Massena on December 14, 2002. Marriages to Barbara Blandin and Gail Burcume ended in divorce. Lee was a custodian and van driver for Massena Independent Living Center until 2003. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, and watching western movies. Contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Freida T. Baker, 97, of Hermon, died on March 14, 2016 at Highland Nursing Home. She is survived by her sons, Arthur and his wife Deborah Baker of Hermon, Donald and his wife Deborah Baker of Norfolk, Daniel Baker of Hermon, a daughter, Ann Villeneuve of Norwood, 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughters, Donna Baker, Diane Hamilton and a sister, Esther Reynolds. Freida was born on September 7, 1918 in the Town of Canton, the daughter of the late William and Maude Come Thompson. She married Burton Baker, March 28, 1942 at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Rensselear Falls, he died on March 17, 1988. Frieda worked on the Everett Risley Farm in DeKalb until she and Burton were married. Freida was a member of DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club, DeKalb Craft Club, the United Church of Richville, Friendship Club and the Hermon Ladies Aide (West Hermon Methodist Church). He was a member of Teamster Union 687, Potsdam, AMVETS Post 11, DeKalb Junction and the Rainbow Brook Hunting Club. He loved cooking, hunting, and fishing. There will be a Celebration of Theresa’s Life on Sunday, March 13th at 1 P.M. at the Racquette Valley Fish and Game Club, Cold Brook Drive, South Colton, New York. She is survived by her sons, Earl and wife Marlene Clark of Ogdensburg, Randy Clark of Potsdam, Tracy Clark and Julie Yandoh of Brasher, Paul Clark of South Colton, daughters, Lucy and her husband Charles Lucas-Schloer of South Colton, Patricia Clark and Theodore Lovejoy of Ogdensburg, Christina and her husband Jeff Ward of Brasher Center, a sister Elizabeth Kerr of Norfolk, 14 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 21 step great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Danny Clark in 1963, a brother Hollis Mosher and a sister Joyce Mosher. She was born on August 29, 1934, in Potsdam, the daughter of Earl B. and Tressia Scovil Mosher. She married Louis Clark at her parent’s home in Colton, 1952, he predeceased her in 1962, she then married Maurice Buckley, he predeceased her, and her fiancée Robert Bacon predeceased her in 1995. Theresa was a self-employed home health care provider, a member of the Potsdam VFW, American Legion in Potsdam, and the Racquette Valley Fish and Game Club. She loved large family gatherings, camping with family, being outdoors, gardening and feeding the birds. Everett M. Risley, 90, formerly of DeKalb Junction and currently in Canastota, died Tuesday evening February 2, 2016, in Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton. Born in De Kalb Junction, on January 17, 1926, he was the son of Herbert N. and Laura Belle Stone Risley. A resident of this area for the past twenty-seven years, Everett was educated in De Kalb Junction schools. Prior to his retirement, Everett was employed with Fremac Marine Sales in Lakeport, previously with the former N. G. Deppoliti and Sons, Inc. of Canastota and owned and operated an automotive garage and dairy farm in De Kalb Junction. He loved playing guitar and working with anything mechanical and was of the Methodist faith. Surviving are his three sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Kathy Risley of Canastota, Rick and Lisa Risley of Oneida and Steven and Laney Risley of St. Augustine, Florida; fifteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sons, Charles in 1987, Greg in 2011, Keith at birth, his daughter, Lisa at birth and two brothers, Obed and Gaylord Risley. Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Saturday at the Allen-Denesha Funeral Home, De Kalb Junction, Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. Interment will be made in Union Cemetery, De Kalb Junction. He was predeceased by his brother, Kermit Castor. George was born on February 26, 1935, in Rodman, New York, the son of Howard and Verna Dennis Castor. He married Doris Youngs on April 12, 1955 at the Macomb Wesleyan Methodist Church Parsonage. George was a heavy equipment mechanic for 29 years for Youngs Heavy Equipment in Palmetto, FL, prior to that he was a self-employed logger and worked construction for Paul Stiles. He was a member of Moose Lodge 814. He loved to fish, go to yard sales and the casino, and especially buying and restoring bicycles. She was a therapy aide for NYSARC, Canton, prior to that she was a maid and laundry attendant at Best Western, Canton and a therapy aide at the Wassaic Development Center, Wassaic.
