Vicky L. Putnam, 58, died on August 18, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. Calling hours will be 2 -4 and 7 – 9 PM , August 25, the funeral service will be August 26, at 2 PM, at the Allen-Denesha Funeral Home, DeKalb Junction, Missionary Ronald Stiles officiating, burial will be in Rensselear Falls Cemetery, Rensselear Falls. She is survived by her daughters, Kristy and her husband Brett Simmons of Morristown, Ashley Putnam and Michael Hitchcock of Auburn, Chelsea Putnam of Auburn, brothers, Roger and his wife Johanna Newcombe of Rensselear Falls, Richard and his wife Jayne Newcombe of New Hampshire., a sister Sue and her husband Chuck Gushea of Rensselear Falls, grandchildren Jeffrey Simmons, Craig Simmons, Brooke Hitchcock, Haileigh Hitchcock, Emilee Holm, a lifetime family friend Mary Downing and her children, Emma Benware and Mason Parson, several nieces and nephews. Vicky was born on November 22, 1956 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of the late Floyd and Edna Race Newcombe. She graduated from Canton Central School in 1975 and attended SUNY Canton. A marriage to Wayne Putnam ended in divorce. She retired from St. Lawrence Lewis County BOCES, as a job coach. Vicky was a member of the Rensselear Falls Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was an avid bingo player. Dorothy M. Anderson, 85, of DeKalb Junction, died on July 29, 2015 at Maplewood Campus, Canton. There will be no services. She is survived by her daughter Debra and her husband Leonard Osborn of DeKalb Junction, granddaughters Shelby Dudley, Shiron White, and Sheena Harris, great grandchildren, Tyler Harris, Emma Dudley, Isaiah White, Marcus White and Jacob White all of DeKalb Junction , several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Leonard Miller, Jerry Miller, Rudolph Miller, Frank Miller, Fred Miller, Gilbert Miller, Geneva Gadway, Loretta Giroux, Leona Boulrice, Elizabeth Gervais, and Flossie Miller. Dorothy was born on October 23, 1929 in Mooers Forks, New York, the daughter of Gilbert and Genevieve Peete Miller. She married Frederick C. Ero in 1960, he died in 1967, she then married Walter R. Anderson in 1972, and he died in 1988. She worked at Delagar in Lake Champlain until her retirement. Dorothy was a past parishioner at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks. She loved cats, traveling and making beaded necklaces. Contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Betty R. Woods, 83, of Gouverneur, died on July 24, 2015 at Hospice of Jefferson County in Watertown. Calling hours will be 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 28, 2015, followed by the funeral service at 2 PM, Pastor David Hart officiating, burial will be in East DeKalb Cemetery, DeKalb Junction. She is survived by her husband Arthur J. “Woody” Woods, sons Scott and his wife Reen Woods of Gouverneur, Craig and his wife Ranae Woods of Alexandria, Virginia, daughters, Candace and her husband Craig Summers of Tucson, Arizona, Lori and her husband Chris Watson of Bradley, Maine, a brother Curtis and his wife Trudy Snyder of Rochester, New York, 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Betty was born on September 7, 1931 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Ernest “Pete” and Ada Murphy Snyder. She graduated from DeKalb High School in 1948 and the Ogdensburg Business School in 1950. Betty married Arthur on August 11, 1950. She retired from Corning Glass, Canton after working from 1979-1987. Prior to that she worked at St. Joe Zinc Co. (1974 -1978), Gouverneur E. J. Noble Hospital (1970 -1974), and Acme Markets (1955 -1970). Betty enjoyed playing cards, bowling and golfing. She loved spending time with her children and their families. She was extremely fortunate to have a great group of friends her entire life. Contributions can be made to the Gouverneur Hospital.

Gary L. Queor, 66, of Canton, died on May 31, 2015, at the home of his sister. There will be no services. He is survived by a brother, Glenn David and his wife Carol Queor of Liverpool, sisters, Judy Ann and her husband Darrell of Central Square, Lisa Marie and her husband Dan Snyder of Cicero, Donna and her husband Lawrence Spicer of Canton, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth Ralph Queor and Frank Emerald Queor. Gary was born on September 9, 1948 in Barre, Vermont, the son of Emerald Frank and Ruth Arlene Dodds Queor. He was a machinist in New Jersey and a member of a rod and gun club. He enjoyed fishing and reading. Contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

Reginald Chilton, 76, of DeKalb Junction, died on April 26, 2015 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 30th, 6 – 9 PM, at the funeral home, the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire department will have a service at 7 PM. The funeral service will be Friday, May 1, 11:30 am at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church, Bob LaClair and Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Sophie”, his sons, Bryan J. Chilton of Chicago, Eric D. and his wife Jennifer Chilton of DeKalb Junction, a daughter, Lori E. Chilton of DeKalb Junction, grandchildren, Richard Harrison Chilton, Hillary Grace Chilton and Henry John Chilton, a brother in law John Denn, Minot, North Dakota, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, James Robert Chilton and Frederick Russell Chilton, and a sister, Rebecca Ruth Denn. Reginald was born on January 20, 1939 in Hermon, the son James Virgil and Ruth Hill Chilton. He married Elizabeth Hamilton on June 24, 1961 at the Old DeKalb United Methodist Church. Reggie owned and operated Chilton’s Sunoco in Canton from 1963 – 1995 when he retired. He was a member of the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, he held the chief’s position and served on the Fire Commissioners Board and was a 40+ year member of the Rainbow Rod and Gun Club. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, watching sporting events on tv, especially the Yankees, Giants, and SU and being at camp on the Oswegatchie. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of one’s choice.

Gretchen was born on December 21, 1938 in Russell, the daughter of Wesley and Marjorie Billings Parrow. She married Gene B. Berger on July 21, 1956 at the Canton Methodist Church with Reverend A. Leslie Potter officiating, he predeceased her on March 23, 2003. She was a homemaker and previously was a machine operator at Plastic Engineering in Portage, Michigan. Gretchen was a member of the AMVETS Post 11, DeKalb Junction, the DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizens Club, a social member of the Russell Volunteer Fire Department. She loved crafts especially woodcrafts, gardening and sewing. Contributions can be made to the Russell Volunteer Fire Department.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki A. McMartin and her husband Keven Yankus of Alger, Michigan, brothers, Gerald and his wife Patricia Ramsey of Las Vegas, Nevada, Donald and Margaret Ramsey of Alabama, a sister, Jean and her husband Thomas Perry of Syracuse, half sisters, Barbara and her husband Lynn Gotham of Florida, Sue and her husband Robert O’Shea of Canton, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Cheryl A. McMartin, a grandson, Matthew McMartin, brothers, Ronald Ramsey, Frank LaRose, sisters, Linda Dufore and Bonnie LaRose. Beatrice was born on December 5, 1940 in Parishville, the daughter of John and Beatrice Kerr Ramsey. She married William F. McMartin on July 2, 1960 at the home of Clarence Gardner with the Reverend Bower officiating, he predeceased her on February 19, 2010. She was a homemaker and mother. Beatrice was a member of the Old DeKalb United Methodist Church, the DeKalb Historical Association, DeKalb Hermon Senior Citizen Club, Russell Senior Citizen Club and was on the Board of the Union Cemetery. “B” (Beatrice) loved quilting, gardening, reading, decorating cakes and braiding rugs. Carl J. Brunet, 87, formally of Hermon, died on February 21, 2015 at Maplewood Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. A graveside service will be on July 18, 2015, 11 am at St. Henry’s Cemetery, Father Stephen Rocker officiating, a luncheon will follow the service at the DeKalb Junction United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, a daughter Carolyn and her husband Lloyd (Butch) Hadden of Winter Haven, Florida, sons, Randy and his wife Vicki Brunet of Edwards, Ritchie Brunet of Hermon, a sister Alida Doud of Fairport, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Carl was born on April 27, 1927 in Hermon, the son of Joseph H. and Pauline I. Baker Brunet Jr. He graduated from Hermon High School in 1945. Carl married Elaine J. Barr on November 5, 1949 at St. James Church Rectory, Gouverneur, Father Divine officiating. He ran a milk route and other hauling which was purchased in 1948, went to work for Town Highway Department in Hermon, spring 1951. Fall of November, 1951 he purchased farm and drove school bus for Hermon District. He worked for the County Department and was an Assessor for the Town of Hermon for five years. Carl worked part time for Roger McBath at Robinson’s Farm Equipment of Canton before 1979. He was a truck driver and did machinery set up for Dragroon Equipment in Canton until his retirement in 1992. Carl was a member of St. Henry’s Church and St. James Church. He loved dancing, reading the newspaper, farming, tinkering in his shop and being busy. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Cyrus W. Weller, 89, of DeKalb Junction, died on January 31, at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Calling hours will be February 3rd, 11 AM – 2 PM, a funeral service will be at 2 PM, Pastor Pedro Morales officiating. Burial will be in Morley Cemetery, Morley on June 12, 2015 at 2:00 PM. He is survived by his children, Ricky Weller of Clearwater, Texas, Michael Weller of Rensselaer Falls, Ronald Church of Ohio, Joseph Weller of Richville, Donna Merithew of Houston, Texas, Karen and her husband Raymond Austin of Fine, Deborah Waugh of Thomasville, North Carolina, Kathy and her husband Tim Gillespie of Stafford, Kimberly Weller of Watertown, Pamela Hendrick of Richfield Springs, 25 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Chris Weller, daughters, Cyra Jean Weller, Christina Weller, Mary Weller and siblings, Harry, Henry, Sherman, George, Viola and Laura Bullock and Warren Weller. Cyrus was born on February 21, 1925 in Hopkinton, New York, the son of Warren and Eva Brown Weller. He was in the United States Navy from 1944 -1946, while in the Navy he served on an attack transport, USS Menard which was part of the “Magic Carpet Fleet” in Pearl Harbor. He married Eudora Northup on November 11, 1943 at the Morley Methodist Church, she predeceased him on February 21, 1963, he then married Donna McCollum in October of 1965, and she predeceased him in 1984. Cy was a steel fabricator at St. Joseph’s Zinc Mine in Pierrepont for 38 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a past volunteer fireman at the DeKalb Junction Volunteer Fire Department, and was a founding member of the Morley Volunteer Fire Department. Cy enjoyed restoring automobiles, logging, hunting and fishing. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to AMVETS Post 11, DeKalb Junction, New York, 13630.
